Spanish Civil War Mod????

.

.

if the other mods are more "supportive" this mod will be a succesfull one, if not we would have to model all new weapons. frankily everyone should pull together to make a much more enjoyable play. games arnt for money, they are for fun. i know you have spent time making your weapons and such in the other mods but really try to take a socialist view on this

no one said there cant be any support, I only said that for now you have to deal with what you get on Friday, and that this means no copying from our packages to pckages distributed under another name. How this will be in the future is in another book.

For now we are busy with the release

Hi,

Noones ever done a Spanish Civil War mod, you could be the first to do so.

Wrong :)

http://www.1936cod2.com/web/index.php

Seems like they finally started to port the old 1936 mod for mohaa (http://1936.jolt.co.uk/) over to cod2. At least their forums look quite active:

http://1936.forogratis.es/foro/index.php

Maybe you guys could ask there for a collaboration (for i could imagine
the CC and MN guys are quite busy with their work, atm ;))
or convince some of them to move over to RO.

All in all i really love that idea of a mod (would be my dream of a mod, actually... imagine all the units from republican guardists to international brigades...street fights in Barcelona/ Madrid.... tons of different weapons... huge amount of "hemingwayish" flair :D) and it's been around in these forums (and the old) for quite a time.

Well i'd suggest to just start with some stuff, e.g. getting 1-2 maps together, maybe some skins/ playermodels, and THEN asking other mod members here for some content. Right now i would'nt be too surprised about the reactions above... collaboration means give and take, not only take ;).

saludos,
gitano

Hi, hola

Really only need the skins and voices. I and some spaniards can do some maps else besides whoever was interested. If someone did at least 2 skins (one per side) would be very close to having the courage. I also know someone who can deal with the voices, but would not know as implement them in the game.

If the thing starts, I enable a section of the forum ROSpain to get you started on an interim basis.

Personally for this moment in time i would like a map consisting of T-26 Tanks for the republicans/volunteers. R35's for the nationalists. Reletivly Large Map. New Tank skins, alot of trenches. New Player skins (making them look more volunteer esque). This is just as a try out before commiting to a full scale mod

Whoa, never realised there was a Civil Spanish mod until I saw this. Great Stuff!!! Yeah it would be great if some of the devs can shift into the RO scene and maybe join forces with MN or CC to help create a Civil Spanish mod.

I found just a little Spanish Civil War uniform information while researching the Iron Europe Mod.

This is from a model soldier forum; unfortunately, some of the photos they posted have turned into little boxes with a red "x":

White Russian volunteers on the Nationalists' side:

Being from the U.S., I have to mention the Abraham Lincoln Brigade; I hope you include them sometime:

This article would probably be a decent introduction to the Spanish Civil War for people unfamiliar with the conflict (I've heard about it, knew the Soviets and Third Reich got involved in it, knew generally what it was about, but do not know a lot of detail). Obviously, its point of view favors one side of the conflict; it has some interesting maps:

I hope that helps a little.

The other day i was thinking, arad reminds me of the Ebro front. If a mapper could edit arad so that it has trenches in the major fields and some sandbags and defences in the towns. Also a skinner who could edit the russian skins into a more Republican style which is basicly the same just a little variation in colours. And of course giving the fascists a more franco look to them. This would be a good start.

Edit: but of course edit the russian cap into the anarchist black and red!

have a go at the skinning yourself...i'm not saying it to be obnoxious but thats how i got started you may find you really enjoy it. All you need is something like GIMP or Photoshop and a .dds plugin and away you go. Post your stuff in this thread and the guys can give you some advice :) might kick start this thing into life a little. :D

I won't lie and say I haven't toyed with the idea of this theatre myself. For some reason I've had a strange fascination with Spain ever since I started working on my old Volkhov River map.. First bit of code I rolled for RO was a custom helmet skin (never released) for Division Azul.
If this is moving forward, I'd be interested to hear of it!
