These pictures are not colorized.

3 pictures were taken in rapid succession, and slides were used with red, green and blue filters, and the projected image was very nearly a perfect true-color photograph.

These are some absolutely beautiful pictures.

Yeah it really is like looking into the past. You realize how much "old" photos that are typically black and white and grainy change the way you view past history.

Ya it kinda creeps me out... but in a good way

While I like B&W photography it definitely alters the feel of things.

The dog picture especially is kinda strange... cause it looks like it could be a random picture off somebody's facebook. But that dog's a hundred years old .

First pic is definitely creepy though hehe. Great pic.

They also built on top of what they destroyed. There was give and take, liberation and annihilation.

But of course most of these pictures are not even from Russia or Western Russia, but from Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, etc.

They are great photos... I've grabbed the whole lot from LoC, sometime back in the past, where they have some scanned at high resolution for good measure (about 25Mb TIF). They are stunning photos - and some of them make amazing ref material!
