Gotta love The Exile:

It’s Hip! It’s Cool! It’s Libertarianism!
http://exiledonline.com/its-hip-its-cool-its-libertarianism/
Libertarianism isn’t some cutting-edge political philosophy that somehow transcends the traditional “left to right” spectrum. It’s a radical, hard-right economic doctrine promoted by wealthy people who always end up backing Republican candidates, no matter how often they talk about civil liberties, ending the wars and legalizing pot. Funny how that works.

Paul Ryan’s Guru Ayn Rand Worshipped A Serial Killer Who Kidnapped and Dismembered Little Girls
http://exiledonline.com/paul-ryans-...r-who-kidnapped-and-dismembered-little-girls/

To celebrate today’s announcement that Ayn Rand fanboy Paul Ryan will in a few months’ time be a heartbeat from the presidency—and to honor this special moment, marking the final syphilitic pus-spasms of America’s decline and fall–we are reposting for your edification Mark Ames’ 2010 article about the man behind the Rand: Ayn Rand’s unrequited adoration of a notorious serial killer, William Edward Hickman. Yes, Vice President-to-be Paul Ryan owes his entire “moral” worldview to a lowly groupie of serial killers, a 1920′s prototype of today’s “Joker” wannabees. Yes folks, in a few months’ time Americans will finally be able to stand up and declare: “We are all serial-killer groupies now.”

Spoiler!

at least they accepted their fate and actually sold the detergent with the contest-winning design, while the mtn dew contest got cancelled.

Thought-provoking article on the psychology of checkpoints and how it affects the minds of the Israeli soldiers guarding them.

There is then no normative notion of disobedience at the checkpoint, no proper way for Palestinians to act. The only way for Palestinians to anticipate the soldier’s next order is to try, at every moment, to anticipate the soldier’s next thought. Is he irritated? Is he complaisant? Is he looking for action? Is he feeling lonely and hoping for a friendly conversation? Does he want to be amused? Is he in a hurry? Is he filled with grief and anger? The soldier’s mental state is the Palestinian’s most urgent concern: it is a matter of life and death.
