[Killing Floor Games] What you like to see?

Hello everybody!

As most of you have already seen or participated in, Killing Floor Games is a new function to which we'll see returning events. A new tournament is coming soon and we are busy upgrading several factors.

During this time, we would like to ask the community for things they wish to see (please note that not all changes will take effect immediately as this will be a development over time). People will have very different and elaborate perspectives and thus we would like to ask of you to keep it constructive. We can't go into discussion with every single detail but will certainly take your feedback into consideration.
While we dont want to spoil everything already, below a few things we are working on:

*New map rotation system
New system to random select a map
*New sign up system on the killingfloorgames.com
Sign up system on the website wich provides team leaders confirmation mails, info etc.
*New bracket system/elimination mode
New tournament system where teams fight against eachother for the best time, teams play the same map when they fight each other, winner passes to the next round.
*Some new tournament rules and upgrades
*Work in progress at the moment

Sorry if you address this before but I would like the permission of changing perks mid-game. It would definitely increase the chances of finishing a game.

Allowing perk change makes game lame. For example, if you are playing without Medic and want to buy medgun, you have to play full price, not change to medic for 1 wave.

As we could see in Veteran Tournament, chance of finishing the game is very high for such skilled players. Biggest challenge is to finish the game faster than other teams.

This is the most stupid suggestion I have seen. (Do not ruin Hell on Earth!)

Please take my suggestion into consideration: As someone mentioned before, that idlers on servers disallow playing on a multiplayer game when 2 players are on the server! Create a time limit to around 3 minutes idling! This is a server-based configuration, which must be set between a minimum of 1 minute to a maximum of 10 minutes.

Another important suggestion (in my opinion): Country-tags. Mine is displaying incorrectly! This country-tag can be set by the user himself. This helps to recognize either where the player is living AND/OR which language the player is speaking. Seriously my problem with the country tag is very annoying!!! [???] Display's, that the player has set his country tag to unknown or by default, if his Geo-IP was not detected. This tag cannot be modified by entering a string like on a keyboard but can be chosen from a list.

And please: Allow us to align an order on our favourites tab the difficulty. I cannot see the difficulty on my favourite servers when not looking at the servername itself.

I think you missed the point...

Anyway, I think a tiered approach could be something that can be tried if you'd like to break it down more than what it was. For example, tier the maps based on difficulty/spawn rate. Holding green hall on hospital horrors allows for a quick map play through but it's significantly harder than say...the fastest you can beat biolabs.

I don't like that it's based on time alone because there are so many extraneous circumstances that can affect the time it takes to beat a map (e.g. stuck zeds). If you're going to continue doing it maybe you can make a more intricate scoring system that takes into account more than just time. So maybe allocate points; no deaths get full points, one death gets fewer points, two deaths gets even fewer...then assign points to time as well. <30 minutes get x points, 30-35 get y points, 36-40 gets z points. You can also create other categories as well. It creates a more complete picture of how well the team did and in my opinion, is much more fair.

^this.

Just remembering all those countless times where crawlers got stuck on Foundry or a bunch of zeds were having a nice party in the elevator on Departed...

Also, I think that the economy of a team should be part of the scoring system. For instance: An autobow sharpshooter can easily take Scrakes and Fleshpounds but bolts are rather expensive. Using another weapon like a M14, LAR or Musket against Fleshpounds or handguns vs. Scrakes, is much cheaper but, on the other hand, more difficult and requires more skill. This would also change the Patriarch fight in a drastic manor, no more pipe carpet all across the map or the most expensive gear on Pat, instead people would be forced to sell some of their weapons to be as money efficient as possible. Besides that, to give another example, it could really hurt the economy if a fully bought support specialist in the team dies and only drops the combat syringe. That would be like 2k+ worth of gear, instantly gone. Furthermore people would be forced to actually aim. No more spray and pray AA12 specialist, mouse1-commando or demo that m79's each and every gorefast.

In my opinion, as mentioned by someone before, the map completion time should only be a part of the scoring system, not the only one. The rules as they are right now, do not represent the skillset of a team very well.

I think these are suggestions are for a new KF patch?
Most changes you mention seem to be aimed at KF general.

Suggestions aimed at gameplay factors to decide the winner are good and at the moment, we are considering adding time penalties when players die during a match. This means that time is added to your team's final finish time and so the games would be decided on participation, deaths, survival and time. For most rules and guidelines that are added to the tournament, we always ask ourselves the question of whether this rule can be guarded and determined; if a rule cannot be guarded or determined properly, then we obviously do not have full control or the right judgment to decide when rules get violated or not.

An economy system could be a part of the tournament, but this challenges Killing Floor Games teams to gain more money and could perhaps result in them discovering/using bugs to gain more money -
a heavy task to guard this 100% on livestreams - and teams would be limited to certain playstyles such as zerker/medic teams and it would limit the amount of fun/selection of actual perks they'd want.

Keep in mind that our new tournament system allows opposing teams to play on the same map as each other - this removes the issue of map differences and possible presumed advantages/disadvantages regarding maps.

Indeed. Still in both KF games (Killing Floor & Killing Floor 2) it would be great to see these suggestions to become made too. Thanks for the respond Jedi Mart.

EDIT: Received private message from you. We'll discuss this private now.

My only suggestion would be to make the streaming a bit easier to watch. When I watched it seemed like you guys were a little unprepared and often you held the in awkward spots. Maybe you could add a score bored or timer (if you are still using time to see who wins). Compare one timer to another teama time to see how they hold up.

We have considered having dual streaming (me and Mart at the same time) but there is a lot involved in this.
A few things to consider:
• Delay - There will be a different delay due to internet connection and PC performance between the two, that both video and sound will differ. That said, it will have the sound playing for both which even then, it wont make any sense and will be very annoying. I guess sound can be turned off for the side view (second - mine) but then we have other issues that stop that completely.
• Money - This is a major part of it. This may be needed to keep the registration of the program running (as I use to use XSplit and found it really well but my account ran out the other day - which costs around

Good suggestion. It would be cool if you could put per-wave timers on spectator HUD with comparison to best time (like lap times in racing), e.g.:

Code:
Wave Time Best
1 2:30 [COLOR="Lime"]-0.52[/COLOR]
2 3:25 [COLOR="Lime"]-0.20[/COLOR]
3 2:48 [COLOR="Lime"]-0.25[/COLOR]
4 4:05 [COLOR="Red"]+0.40[/COLOR]
[COLOR="Yellow"]5    1:30 ----[/COLOR]
