Keeping things fresh

So you've played killing floor for x hours, where x is a large number and now you may have started to get the feeling that things are getting a little repetitive, but you still love the game and want to continue playing.
This thread is for players to share ways that you can think of or have employed in the past to keep the game alive for you.
It could be for example, a different way to play a perk, or playing the game a particular way (like never going to the trader)

Something that I recently tried out was going L.A.W + 9mm handgun with demolitions. It's pretty fun.

Speaking of L.A.W, I was thinking using it with support specialist and a shotgun could be a nice change in pace.

I start getting bored, and I'll do one of two or three things. I'll either A. put the game on a shelf for awhile, and play something else, usually when I go back to the first game, its kinda like playing a new game again.
B. I'll start shooting at monsters a different way, or with different guns. right now I pretty muchjust use the AA12, and sometimes hand cannon, but I'll change it up now and then, and use like a SCAR or the M14, if I really wanna mix it up.
or C. I'll just play a different perk and use its advantages.

a new gametype to support clan vs. clan competition.....sorry but KF Strike isn't my idea of KF clan competition. if you wanna play CS play CS. team vs. team to see which can survive longer. simple, effective and fun. (at least in theory, in implimentation maybe not so much)

something about RO that kept people like myself playing for as long as we have is the ability to join a clan and have organized competition against other clans. all the new maps, acheivements and content that was added would have never been enough to just keep me playing. now that clanplay is not as active as it used to be in RO, the repetativeness of the game is starting to wear on me a little, but still not enough to keep me from playing occasionaly.

same goes for KF. though i still enjoy playing the game, i need something to keep me interested. new maps, acheivements and guns are only temporary solutions to fill that void. a more competative gametype would provide sustained enjoyability to keep me playing this game 2 years from now just as i experienced in RO.

Both of these are a ...BLAST.

Try playing sharpshooter with handguns only. I always enjoy it as a fun challenge.

Or play as a medic. I mean, if you haven't ever really played medic, medic is quite a change of pace.

Today, I just thought of using 2 shotguns of your choice + grenade launcher for a very high level support specialist. Basically, when you want to clear out a group very thoroughly, throw a few grenades (or even just one if it's a group of weak-ish specimens), then detonate it/them with the M79. It's an effective and fun way to take advantage of your higher grenade capacity and increased grenade damage.
To get this setup quickly, you could spawn as a demo in wave 1, then change to support before wave 2 begins. If you're very cheeky, drop your grenade launcher near the spawn point and kill yourself with a grenade at the end of wave 1 after changing to support. You'll respawn with your shotgun/hunting shotgun (for lvl 5/6 respectively) and can grab your launcher nearby. ;)

I recently played a bit with shotgun+LAW combination, its kinda funny altho LAW is pretty useless. Its only good for killing masses of clots on harder difficulties, and it tends to cause some damage on you when you shoot it over obstacles. Like, if you are standing on top of the car on west london and shoot the rocket over the flaming dumpster, you lose like 30 armor and hp :S? Must be a bug. Happens in some other places too, no matter how far you shoot the rocket.

Ive already unlocked all the achievements so im done playing kf until more achievements get added

and besides taking a break from the game is a good way to keep it interesting
that way you don't get burned out on it and end up having a less chance of coming back to play it

too bad the kf strike plugin sucks madballs and is a terrible adaptation of cs into kf

seriously more than one grenade?
all that plugin is nade spamming what a noobfest
seriously not even cal-o bads would play that

the LAW does have a very big blast radius so its easy do dmg your self

I've recently been trying out Level 6 Support Specialist with Shotgun, Crossbow and M79. It's really fun, especially on West London and Manor. :D
I like to spawn as level 6 berserker for some nice starting cash at the end of wave 1, then switch to level 6 demolitions and buy the M79, then switch to support in wave 3 and buy the shotgun + crossbow. Alternatively, you could spawn as level 6 demo with the M79 in wave 1.
