We have to stick with certain laws, but if we got a part wrong (full gore allowed over 18 for instance), we will try and find a proper solution for it.
We don't want to restrict anything ourselves by choice, if we can allow full gore anywhere and only restrict the symbols, we'd prefer that.

You will not have to trade in your localized version, if we are allowed to change it, it will be changed in your localized version, but please be patient and do not expect a change in this matter instantly.
Would be nice when we could have a little statement if you already found something.

And when will you learn that this will not change anything...
I mean, this is the third time you are posting this, and this is also the third time we are saying you that this is I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E.
The only way to change the laws would be a putsch:)eek:), and I do not really think it would be successful. But you are allowed to come and try it...

Why can't you people just shut up about this stupid govt. stuff.
It's getting old...

I tell you what:
It's not the Devs responsibility to prevent us from seeing this on the internet or to fulfil German law outside of the country's territory!
Since the game was sold online, and Valve is a US company, US laws apply.

If our govt wanted us not to see they better censor the whole internet right away (think the Chinese way!) to prevent us from buying stuff online and seeing these images posted on the net!

OMG, don't you see the hypocrisy?

OK all you fellow germans, i fully understand that you dont want to be restricted and I agree to your reasons.

Only one thing comes to my mind:
When I play RO I never miss the gore (severed limbs and stuff) because I usually dont have time to look at it.
Bloodsplats are there to indicate the hit so I'm fine with it.
Is it really that important to have body parts flying around that you make such a fuzz about it?

And for Nazi insignia... I'm quite happy they are not all over the game!
The reason is simple, games with them showing tend to attract dickheads glorifying naziism, neo-nazis and holocaust deniers and honestly I dont want these braindead idiots around!

I dont think that the nazi signs are so important for the gaming experience.

But realistic gore is important - i hate not to see if someone is dead or still alive after he is hit by a grenade bang. if i see the leg of my target 3 meters away from his body, i can be shure that he will not fire at me any more. in the reduced gore version he would look like as if he is still sniping at me.

The reason for him "yelling" that hes 18+ and ALLOWED to buy & play & dowhatever with the UNCENSORED version is based on the fact that is is already legal for someone 18+ to buy / own stuff like this. So your comment seems kinda "wierd" if not outright superficial, maybe read some more next time before posting smarta** comments, hmm?

I think it is ridiculous that I, as an adult in my early thirties, am being prevented (as part of Tripwire and not the German media laws) from having the choice of being exposed to the full extent of the visually-explicit scenes in the game, when adolescents and even teenagers of other countries (with similar youth-protection laws) are given access to them regardlessly.

I wonder if it was a misinformed legal advisor or simply ignorance of the current situation regarding laws in Germany that made this possible.

As a solution, I suggest that you get the game rated as 18 by the USK in Germany. This way, it cannot be indexed or even banned anymore and you don't have to fear lost sales.

As an even quicker solution, may I suggest that you release a patch where you have people from countries with decency standards/youth protection laws read a legal agreement or have them confirm that they are adults, before letting them turn on the highest gore level? This way, you're legally on secure ground and you won't disgruntle adult customers from Europe's biggest market.

Well, I played a bit more, and guess what, you can play as SS troops

Nah, not comoing as a surprise to me since that was the case throughout the Mod version, however, I would have thought this got removed.
It was the same case for DoD when it went retail (*sigh* no more Flecktarn camo for the sniper! :()

If you seriously belive that getting rid of gore but leaving the SS in the game (which I personally do not mind at all, don'T get me wrong here!) is prventing you from getting the game banned in Germany then you are all wrong!

The gore would probably mean an 18+ rating , which isn't so bad (and won't affect sales much I gather. When I was still below that age, heck only 13, it was no problem for me getting rated games - you always know someone who is old enough).

But knowing how narrow-minded our politicians and lawyer are, I can see this game getting banned because of glorification of National-Socialism since you can play as SS.

Even last week I read an article in our newspaper (quater a page!) that complained about how the German youth is enganing in War Games trying to revert the outcome of WWII (blah, blah, you know such sensational journalism)...

So for the Devs: If you thought you could circumvent indexing by keeping excessive gore out but otherwise sticking to historical accuracy (which I love this game for!), think again.
Won't save you in Germany, unfortunately.

Therefore, I'd say, stop worrying about this, stick to online selling, add paypal or some other non-CC apyment method (since only a handful of people own one in Germany), don't censor anything, and let us all be happy! :)

Oh, before I forget:
IANAL, just in case someone wonders...
