Easy way to kill him, but have to watch for other speciments or u will be surrounded.

Yeah this is a fairly standard method when you're alone. It always seems to backfire when in groups though. Someone always rages him just as I'm out of ammo on my first weapon but haven't switched to the second.

IMHO the truly best way to kill FP/Scrakes as commando is to clear all the crawlers and trash off of your friendly neighborhood XBOW SS. The FP/Scrake magically dies shortly after that :)

Who needs a friendly neighbourhood SS. Medics and Zerkers can drop it like a fly too.

Definatly 1 specimen I avoid trying to kill on Hard/Suicidal for those very reasons you said.

Commando's are one of the best classes by far. They specialize in killing the most annoying monsters(except for maybe fleshies) They can kill crawlers and stalkers is 1-2 shots. Can kill sirens pretty quickly by just gunning at them with bullpup\Scar\ or AK47. They can kill Husks with a few shots to the head with Ak47 or Scar and about maybe 15ish from bullpup.
And they can see the Patriar's health and can see him when hes invisable. Also very helpful being able to see the invisable stalkers and being able to see the health of ememies

As a commando, you're not as good as the Firebug at taking down the little guys, and you're not as effective against larger targets such as the Support Specialist.

Imo, Commandos are just a filler perk.

Commando biggest asset is to see enemy's healthbar. It's a tremendous help in dark/foggy/confusing maps. When you see a bar somewhere, shoot a bit below to get it.

It's also extremely usefull when Demos and Firebugs are spamming the place with smoke and fire. The commando will be the only one actually seeing where things are in that blinding fire/smoke.

And yet, a commando with a full and ak and scar can take down most of the FP's health in hard, and often kill it with good headshotting.

Besides all that It has excellent small crowd control and is efficient at both long and short range.
In HoE a single commando can wipe out most small critters and allow support and sharpshooter to conserve ammo for big ones.

So, no, to me it's far from useless ...

Commando's are meant to have heaps of ammo and are meant to take on the special enemies and weaker enemies. I think it's reasonably balanced at the moment.

Commando isn't meant to take out larger specimens, that's why. They are more for killing smaller and weaker ones, namely stalkers before they can get closed.

Commando is a support/utility class that doesn't shine until you're in a group. You don't have the "dakka" to take down the bigger baddies on your own, but you have a second full auto weapon when the first goes dry so it's easy to demolish trash without obscuring your team's FOV.

Leveling commando is kind of a pain due to the specific enemy kill requirement but that can be countered by camping the brown room in Doom 2. It helps your team and lets you rack up kills, but isn't as good for your damage requirement as other levels.

Look at it this way, at least you don't have to weld...

I love it when you're couched down, popping head after head after head in your SCAR ACOG when the Firebug runs up and lights the entire crowd on fire, rendering every other player unable to land a decent aimed headshot.

Imo, Commandos are just there, never exceeding at anything.

Wait...what? Commando is definitely faster at killing all lower specimens, when compared to the Firebug. The Firebug shouldn't even be focused on killing them, rather just setting them on fire, so everyone else can finish them off. The Commando can 1-shot most smaller specimens, and 1-2 body shots on the rare occasion.

Sorry for that, but for God's sake... I...I lost my train of thought. Oh yeah, they can kill individual specimens at around the same rate, but please, show me a Commando that can get rid of 60 6 man HoE gorefasts in 10 seconds without A) dying, or B) the use of grenades. Also, don't come at me with that wasting ammo bull, the Firebug's weapons are so darn cheap that you can stockpile them like there's no tomorrow. In fact, I think the only TRUE advantage Commandos have is the ability to headshot, and you know what, that may be enough, seeing as you can spray a Scar mag and a few bullets from the AK to a scrake's face to bring him down. (Also take note that Support can do that better.)

Well, considering the maximum number of specimens that can be on the map at any given time is 32, i'm going to say that killing 60 specimens in 10 seconds is impossible.

Including with firebug. Firebug is just as "bad" in this regard.

Also you must either suck terribly at Commando or know terrible Commandos to think that grenades or dying are the only options.
