Note: This IS the latest version for now, the v3 I released a while back along with offices was my own mixxup with the files... If I do release a new version after this one I'll make a new topic for it so youll know its a real deal :S

Map Name:
Manor LightsOut (dark version)
Version: 2
Playable: Yes

Description of map:
Obviously, its a dark version of manor. Really dark. Flashlight is required in most areas.

Changes from the previous version:
- Added some torches outside to provide light for players to navigate with.
- Added a spooky fog.
- Added a suprise in the basement (my first actual success in scripted triggers >_>).
- Fixed a few odd lit objects.
- Improved spawning a little bit in some areas.

What testing is wanted:
Just let me know if you can think of anything to improve.

The name's kinda confusing since KF-ManorLightsOut_v3 was in the compressed file with the Office map. 'Just letting you know.

Ah sorry about that, I actually have versions up to v6 but thats only because I save the map on different name every time I make a major change. I thought the v1 was the latest I released...

Well hmm, Im not exactly sure wether its a good idea to change the map name again, perhaps Ill just delete the link to the "v3" and hope it gets buried lol.

I have got both versions in my maps-repo and my server as well, so God only knows how much it spread in the world now ;)
We are waiting for next version (maybe final)...so be careful next time :)

Updated with a more permanent link for the download (its on my ftp account on gameservers instead of filefront)

I noticed the event in the basement will be triggered by specimens too so I have to fix that on the next version. Also theres a few exploits to be fixed. After that it should be good to go and maybe I'll request it to be whitelisted.

Thanks altho these dark versions of stock maps were my first attempts on mapping so they arent at their best imo. And most of them require a mod which has glowsticks, flares or other light sources besides flashlights, otherwise they are pretty much impossible.
Actually not if you're team properly work together. My server of 12 players have actually got to the patriarch on Suicidal. The only downside was ammo at that point but we noticed certain perks are best used. Commando, Support Specialist and the Firebug.

Commando for it's normal job and can see health bars. Support can weld doors, hold weapons for others if needing to (depending on level) and also do mass damage when need to be (Flesh Pounds/Scrakes). Firebug is a great light source for the entire team while doing decent constant damage (dependant on level). This was pretty much all we used and it works really nicely specially the your BioticsLabsLightsOut map.

Is there a compilation of LightsOut maps around somewhere? I'm a sucker for them; it just gives me chills when I look into the darkness and see that yellow light of a Fleshpound coming closer.

Well, its always possible that I would make more but I dont have much time for mapping and Ive been lazy about it anyway for the past year. I even have one map on the works but cant find any patience to finish it.

Altho there are also some other rly dark maps out there that were made by someone else. Id recommend checking some of Robots maps, I think KF-Cabin was pretty dark for example.

Very nice work, I put KF Zombies on earlier with the 3 dark maps, owe the fun, when you hear nothing but the moan in the dark...its bum pucker time

The maps are much better with glowsticks or some other light sources, but sadly the only mods that have those are rather big and change everything else too (WTF, Hiyoko...).

I was working on a small mod which gave you the option to buy either a small set of glowsticks from the trader or a flaregun, but never actually finished it. To keep the atmosphere of the maps these light sources should cost enough so you cant just spam them and you should only be able to carry a few (5 or so maybe) with only 30 seconds of burn time or something like that. I copied the code over from WTF mut for those, but was never able to get in contact with the creators for permission... But the thing is, Im not even sure if it was their original code or did they copy it from somewhere else? After all Hiyoko has the exact same things too.

Want the truth that is how I got them in my serverperks. They're not perfect but they do the job and I have done the same as you with the higher price but they're perked for the Colonial Marine perk I made (from Aliens film) and I have made them have a max of 3. What I like about them is you can put them down OR around your neck. It's a fun factor for the game but can be very useful. If you do get permission i'd advise trying to make a mutator for them as they will be awesome and something that may help promote your maps/dark maps a little more maybe. I have noticed a lot of people who go on my server aren't that big fans of dark maps and rage quit cause they can't play solo and try be the "best player". Reason why I love your dark maps as they promote so much team work.
