SS and other Nazi names everywhere

People find it funny, not sure why they just do.
The rest of us, sane people, should simply see these names, remember what they represent and move on.
If an idiot wants to celebrate the Facist/ Soviet abuse that World War 2 which was ripe with, let them, I know that they are obviously stupid or insane, so there is no sense trying to reason with them.

oh look i use a german name, and german army tag.. call me a nazi though an ill cut your balls off.
its a game based in 1942, between 2 forces, i have nothing against people using "country-ish" (for what of better word) names, or a unit. better than some one being called cookie doom monster 2000o98.
but i agree when i see people with SS or SA tags, same for NKVD i just think this guy is a bell end same for fools who log in an start with the "sieg hiel" bull****, just grow the **** up and **** off, i collect some 3rd riech stuff and wargame with ww2 jerries, but i realy hate some one calling me a nazi. i used to get the same when i was a kid wearing a modern german olive shirt, and still do when i airsoft in modern bundeswehr gear it just realy pisses me the **** off, i also have an ex east german officers jacket (so soviet) that does for nights out an i still get pricks giving me "salutes" and generaly being ignorant a twats saying nazi bull**** to me, ive had so many fights because of it even had a punk start on me for being a nazi, i beat him down then explained during puches that its a communist not nazi, but i digress.
people with those attitudes or names are usauly lil kids an very rarely last a full round and soon leave the game because hey just make fools out of them selves

Ive seen plenty of people like this with NKVD or SS etc, Most of them are just doing it for rp or for "da lulz", some people who have them just put them to piss people off. Hell I had my name as "Adolf the german chocolatier" for a while just for fun. I can care less what other people believe in since im to busy actually playing than *****ing about people I dont agree with.

This thread is so stupid. Some of you need to grow a pair and stop being all dramatic and politically correct over a video game...a video game that purposely reflects the most brutal and savage combat on a massive scale ever seen.
The fact that everyone is crying of militaristic/political names from the time period of the game is rather astonishing. Here we are shooting the guns, killing the enemy, and wearing the uniforms of various nations, all of which had atrocities.
I don't care if you are "NKVD" (clearly not a morally and ethically righteous organization, mind you) or the Waffen-SS (also, clearly not a moral organization, as we are reminded constantly by our TV) It shouldn't matter. This is the internet, and this is a video game.
There is also a clear double standard from the ally perspective. There were war crimes committed by every nation, and don't you forget that. Even the Americans and Commonwealth on the "cleaner, more gentlemanly" western front participated, even before major german atrocities were even well known. Of course, the slaughtering of hundreds of german POWs, the rape of thousands of women, the killing of hundreds of thousands of civilians means nothing, because they were all just nazis, and they deserved it...right? The victor writes the history, a clear fact from all war, when objectively observed, no matter how evil either party to it actually is.
No one went without bloody hands. It was the most devastating and brutal war ever seen. Either we ban the names and organizations of everyone involved, and indeed, any name that may ever offend anyone, throw away historical games to the waste bin of history, or we leave everyone alone and play the game like adults. If someone is truly causing issues and disruptive play, I have no issue with corrective actions, no matter the name.

a) Un-whitelist (oh the irony for the nazis) the server if it's really offensive

b) Flag it as being "against the rules", with a new filter in the server browser, set to "do not show server who are against the rules", so there's no censorship, but the common player won't stumble upon it by accident.

When have we said that we dont want to see the proper insignia's of the Wehrmatch or the SS?
What we are saying is, we don't like people glorifying the terrible things people did in World War 2. Oh, and no more of this "Terrible things happend, deal with it"
Yeah, terrible things did happen, but I dont see a "Rape Civilian" option or an "Execute Innocent" option, you know why? Because this isnt about the political state of the war during Stalingrad, its about the struggle of the everyday soldiers who fought and died there.

It's okay to side with the communists even though they killed far more than the Germans ever did. We can't criminalize the Russians simply because they were an Ally. If they would like to categorize all SS as guilty by association then its only fair to hold the US and Britian responsable for the attrocities commited by it's communist ally. These wonderful allies who supply every known terriorist group in existance with weapons; not to mention Korea, Vietnam, and the cold war and probably some future war you own children may fight and die in.
Anyone who paints a broad picture such as SS=evil and CCCP=Heroes is not only living in a dream world but has no knowledge of history. The 6th SS whom my Grandfather served, spent his time on the Kestenga front protecting Finland from the Soviet invasion. The 6th SS, like many other SS divisions had a clean combat record.
If there are known National Socialists and Communists in-game it only adds to the realism so long as they conduct themselves respectfully.
SS tags are nothing new and have been around since RO1 started.

That's a bit silly. All German military formations participated in war crimes. Luftwaffe bombed civillians, Kriegsmarine sunk passenger ships, Wermacht shot and hung civillians in all occupied countries. SS were just the icing on the cake. And Germans were pretty much in favour of nazis, until they started losing the war. They all felt they're better than the rest of the world and deserve to rule over the "barbaric east" and "decadent Europe".
All part of their Germanic national mythology they've been nurturing for centuries while slowly pushing eastwards since the first teutonic crusades. But only a minority of Germans were actually members of the National-Socalist party.
Not calling Russians "Soviets" however makes little sense. The Soviet Union was a country of many nations. Ukrainians and Byelorussians were all Soviets at the time. Like the English, Scots and Welsh are all British. But only a minority were members of the Communist party.
Those that don't have names because of some more or less legit clan membership, are usually immature, poorly educated people and revisionists who just want to provoke a political argument in a computer game (goes for "extremist" names for either side, political option, game, etc). As in "Allies did more crimes than Germans", "Stalin killed more people than Hitler", "Bush killed more Iraqis than Saddam", "Confederates were better soldiers than Union ones", "Israelis are worse than nazis towards Palestinians" etc.
Interwebs allows everyone an anonymous opinion and they make best use of it. Valid or not.
As in these examples:
You wanna get into an argument with someone like that, you already lost. They won't care for your arguments, cause they know everything anyway, while you waste your life banging your head against a brick wall.
Most people play games for fun, to relax, to relieve some stress. Some need to cheat, troll, grief or play terrible techno on team chat, to get their kicks. That says more about them than anything else, doesn't it?
I couldn't give a toss if people relieve stress by calling themselves "SS_Hitler" or "NKVD_Stalin", align your sights at them and press the left mouse button. Problem solved.

The thing is that there are barely any proof on "crimes" of NKVD/USSR, and if they were, they were usually made by Nazi minister of propaganda(Goebbels), which makes it 70% unreliable. All the crimes made by III Reich are not only confirmed but also way bigger than any Soviet crimes, which were not only smaller but also unproven.
I thought it's the Nazi's who have planned to completely eliminate the Slavs and Jews? Somehow when USSR introduced it's communist idea in eastern europe, nobody was discriminated, bah, it aided to help the eastern europe to rebuild itself without using Marshall's plan!
I don't think it's that bad thing to have Bolshevik nicknames. After all, they have freed the Europe from the Nazi tyrrany, and have actually develpoed economically eastern europe after 2nd world war!

Polshevik... I thought it was fairly well known at the very least that Stalin ordered the killing of most of his own officer corp just before the war for no other reason than he did not believe they held his beliefs and did not want another revolution. This amounted to many thousands of men.
As for there being no proof of the millions of civilians killed by Russia, do you think it did not happen? I guess the Russians had the luxury of having a big back yard and no international peace keepers rolling in.
Of course the winners of war write history and as others have said above... nobody is going to investigate an ally.
You have made me curious now about something I had always taken for granted. That is that just before WW2 the Russians did kill many millions of civilians in cold blood facing them.
Personally for war crimes I think the Japanese were the most saddistic. Civilians killed - millions
The germans more calculating - civilians killed - millions
The russian massacres of their own populations I know least about - civilians killed - more than everybody else combined form all sources I have read.
Oh and for the record I think people who use known SS units with bad records are a bit silly to say the least.
Suffice to say though that all sides committed attrocities... or at least the ones with opportunity to do so.

Yeah, and in the Nazis' eyes no innocent people were sent to concentration camps. The Soviet state got rid of anyone who didn't conform to its ideas and those people numbered in the millions. As others have posted, Stalin isn't as vilified in Western Europe as Hitler because he was an ally in WW2, but there isn't much doubt that, in stark terms of human lives lost, the two regimes were on a par.
But to get back on topic...My argument against the use of these nicknames is that we ought to be aware that there are people out there who would like to see the Nazis return. They collect weapons and uniforms, and so on. Maybe they have tattoos, wear insignia. Maybe they like to live out their fantasies by playing video games in which they can "be" SS soldiers and win the war.
I'm not suggesting that there is anyone in this community who is like that, but a casual observer might see the SS tags and sigs around here and be highly suspicious.
