The thing is that there are barely any proof on "crimes" of NKVD/USSR, and if they were, they were usually made by Nazi minister of propaganda(Goebbels), which makes it 70% unreliable. All the crimes made by III Reich are not only confirmed but also way bigger than any Soviet crimes, which were not only smaller but also unproven.

LOL, not bias at all...now are we? Ah, yes, the Great Patriotic was very civil by the defenders...and of course, pre war eastern europe has no basis to complain about the wonderful graciousness of their motherland...

If there were millions Russians killed in this period, how come there be still natural population growth?
June 1941: 196,716,000
January 1946: 170,548,000

Those are sources from an article about Soviet History.
As we can see, the population fell by 1946 which is obvious, the war.
But from 1946 to 1951 the population has been growing, and Stalin has still been in power
Where are those 50 millions killed by Stalin? I understand that to keep those graphs like that Stalin forced Soviet couples to have 20 children in each family?
And come on, it is 1945, and in EVERY SINGLE ARMY OF THE WORLD there's going to be this couple of idiots that will think that having fun with those German girls when commander is not looking is going to be cool. It happened in Soviet, British, American, Canadian, Japanese, Polish... in every allied army, and vice versa, it obviously also happened in the Axis armies.

Yes, but in our eyes the Jews were innocent. So were the Soviet citizens, we(and the Soviets) don't blame them for being born who they were. Germans did. Germans clearly had documents on planning total annhiliation of those nations, and many more. The Allies didn't plan any holocaust AFAIK

Of course the winners of war write history and as others have said above... nobody is going to investigate an ally.

Before the war, the British and Americans were more of Allies with Nazi Germany than with Soviet Union. They didn't even do anything when Germans invaded Poland, just so Nazi Germany can destroy the communists in Russia. But obviously as Hitler attacked them, they slowly started to actually fight against Hitler(which is obviously a big favor)
And the winners write the history... that's a very good statement on all the ammount of bullsh-i-t we learn about the Soviet Union in school. The capitalists have won the cold war.

As others have posted, Stalin isn't as vilified in Western Europe as Hitler because he was an ally in WW2, but there isn't much doubt that, in stark terms of human lives lost, the two regimes were on a par.

But to get back on topic...My argument against the use of these nicknames is that we ought to be aware that there are people out there who would like to see the Nazis return. They collect weapons and uniforms, and so on. Maybe they have tattoos, wear insignia. Maybe they like to live out their fantasies by playing video games in which they can "be" SS soldiers and win the war.

I'm not suggesting that there is anyone in this community who is like that, but a casual observer might see the SS tags and sigs around here and be highly suspicious.

This. There are people, sadly many, who clamor for the return of the Reich, and find meaning and truth in Nazi party propaganda and ideology. Those sad, deluded, confused beings can be and are drawn to games like RO2.

There is quite a bit of difference between acknowledging but for the sake of a game ignoring war time atrocities (given you can argue war itself is the atrocity) and giving acknowledgement to but ignoring for the sake of entertainment an official sanctioned body formed specifically with the purpose of committing atrocities.

I'm not saying every or even most of the clan players who use German tags and names are those types, but we as a community can't ignore them and their deleterious effect their presence has. The same holds true for NKVD (or the 'special' units of any other nation).
