Very work-in-progress. This is about 4 days worth of work, textures included. The setting is industrial area in russia on a snowy winter night. Exterior is extremly unfinished. :)

I can't figure out what the first letter would be in Russian script but the rest would be "...AKTOPHO" in Russian which would be spelt and pronounced "...aktorno" in English. If you can post a link to the original word I could tell you what it is and how to pronounce it.

The Russian for Factory is 'Zavod' BTW. e.g. Тракторний Завод = Traktorniy Zavod = Tractor Factory

This looks like it is going to be a great addition to the ranks of the custom maps and possibly a strong contender for the Dec 15th compo.

One point is that I would hate you to rush this map just to get it out the door by the 15th of Dec if it means that it will not be as good as you would like it to be.

Whenever it comes out I look forward to seeing it.

I am a bit bemused by the word, the more I think about it, because the suffix '-no' suggests that it is an adverb and, in this case, part of a bigger word, used to modify an adjective.

e.g. Traktorno-tankoviy Zavod = Factory that makes tanks and tractors.

A good idea might be just to rename it to RO-stariy_zavod (old factory) but I know that a map's name is a very personal issue for the mapper so I simply offer my advice, is all.

Whatever it's called, it is sure to rock.

Keep up the good work - but watch your work flow - try not to detail too much & get bogged down with lighting - it will all probably change anyway - establish the floorplan of the level - set up the basic gameplay elements and then nail that map down.

I wish I listened to my own advice sometimes.

Good luck with the competition

A few more shots of todays work.
The sorrounding buildings of what has become known as "Russian yard" (that is, i've been calling it that in my head...) are all made and in wipage. The first pic shows an interior of one of the buildings and the second one a war torn building that makes an excellent flanking position for the axis :)
