Red Orchestra 2- MG-42 Wehrmacht Workhorse

No more so than any other MG in the game.

Deployed the MG42 was the best LMG of the war, and so it should be ingame as well. Get over it.

Funny how it is partly used for running and gunning, and is currently the most effective close combat gun in the game that is able to outdraw any other gun, including pistols and smgs.

Please stop pretending this isn't a problem, and please stop with your useless strawmen about it.

The mg is a good mg, and should be used as such, there was nothing more fearsome that an mg position in DH (currently the best and most realistic representation of such guns in this series), but it also has this extra feature of being a run-and-gun weapon, which it should not be.

Hipfiring of the mg42 (and all other mgs, it is just the preferred weapon for no-skill mg rambos currently so it gets all the flack) should be perhaps possible (it wasn't in RO1, only the mg34 could be hipfired), but it should only be possible after pressing right mouse, which raises the gun to hipfire mode and makes the player considerably slower when moving with it in such a way. This was the method used for hipfiring light machineguns in RO1, although as stated, the mg42 could not be hipfired in that game.

This.
Good luck playing Grain Elevator when you have 4 MG rambos playing Axis.

The problem specifically with the MG42 and MG34 is the suppression effect that occurs in close-quarters. A single round from either weapon puts the suppression effect at maximum, and makes any attempts to kill MG gunners that much more impossible.

Either lower the suppression effect, nerf the draw and accuracy with hipfire, or add a right-click to raise feature. This problem has seriously ruined a lot of maps.

I could make a mutator that forces the suppression effect to lower when hipfiring or make it right click, but considering how many projects at the moment, I'm not inclined to take another....:(

You said it yourself, this isn't 2011 anymore. If we were talking about ultra high-poly models or stuff with a ton of particles like smoke barrage, then it'd be understandable. But hip firing? Come on.

The game still thinks it's 2011 that's the problem.

32 bit. You gotta check that ram usage.

This isn't becuase it'll make the game lag becuase it's resource intensive. It's becuase the game is limited in what it can and can not use. Meaning it'll crash if it uses more than it's physically allocated. Runs out of numbers. An issue I've run into with both mount and blade and total war games modding. At least Warband had a 64 but version made but it means people with 32 bit machines can't play.

One new animation ain't gonna effect this game at all no. But it still is a problem and a limitation you have to be aware of. Certainly a limitation when it comes to HOTW and what some people are suggesting.
