MG42 - The assault rifle of Red Orchestra 2.
No more so than any other MG in the game.
Deployed the MG42 was the best LMG of the war, and so it should be ingame as well. Get over it.

Ahem.
Hipfiring of the mg42 (and all other mgs, it is just the preferred weapon for no-skill mg rambos currently so it gets all the flack) should be perhaps possible (it wasn't in RO1, only the mg34 could be hipfired), but it should only be possible after pressing right mouse, which raises the gun to hipfire mode and makes the player considerably slower when moving with it in such a way. This was the method used for hipfiring light machineguns in RO1, although as stated, the mg42 could not be hipfired in that game.
This.
Good luck playing Grain Elevator when you have 4 MG rambos playing Axis.
The problem specifically with the MG42 and MG34 is the suppression effect that occurs in close-quarters. A single round from either weapon puts the suppression effect at maximum, and makes any attempts to kill MG gunners that much more impossible.
Either lower the suppression effect, nerf the draw and accuracy with hipfire, or add a right-click to raise feature. This problem has seriously ruined a lot of maps.
There's already an animation for going into hipfire mode, it's just never used.
And "resource costly" lol. Adding a single new animation won't do anything, that's just a excuse.
You said it yourself, this isn't 2011 anymore. If we were talking about ultra high-poly models or stuff with a ton of particles like smoke barrage, then it'd be understandable. But hip firing? Come on.
