Correct. When I wound people I don't hear it. If I kill them I hear it. Really kills the immersion when you see the blood spatter and they keep running into out of your view but you already know they're dead. I'm not a fan of the quick bandage thing. It should take about the time it does in L4D to go into an interruptable bandaging animation. But on the topic at hand, it should just be disabled in realism mode. It's a very satisfying sound but just not correct for a game destined to be realistic.
For instance when I'm playing ARMA II @UO and I'm on a point lookout covering maybe 30
I didn't even know there was a sound... but it could be because I have to turn the sound down to only 8 channels or my 3 year old laptop only gets 10 fps.
