Interesting Use of Maxims

Originally that quad-Maxim was ofcourse intended for AA purposes, but proved quite effective also on ground targets. Those were used a lot on ground targets in Winter War, where there obviously was not a lot enemy aircrafts to shoot at.:)

Finns called them as "urkupyssy", "the organ gun". Propably because it must have made quite sweet music with it

At the outbreak of the war there was one or more of these in the AA company of every soviet infantry division (theoretically). So they probably were used fairly frequently in ground combat if a unit was getting overrun or something. After that the sovs probably realised their effectiveness for mega suppression and used them to assist in assaults.

Now a quad maxim tachanka: that would be something to see. :)
