Level Design Anyone know how to password a map?

You could embed an actor that phones home to some kind of authorization server using libhttp or whatever every time the map is played.

But as already pointed out this is all subject to the DRM paradox; you are trying to prevent the user from accessing data you have already given them. All copy protection systems of this nature can therefore be circumvented.

If you want to keep your map on the down low simply do not give it to anyone you do not trust!

EDIT: Why not just tag some random surface with your name like everyone else does? Or the more stenographic approach would be to invisibly watermark every single texture with it ^_^

If someone were to steal a map, it would need to be pretty damn impressive. And of course they would need to know what an impressive, good quality map actually is. Either you didn't know this, which is baffling, or you think your own work is ridiculously impressive and top notch, which showcases the word hubris if ever there was one.

In any case there are multiple ways around safeguarding your map without locking it, which nobody seems to know how to do. But you already mentioned a 2-week early release, so, problem solved I suppose. You could take a dated FRAPS recording way before then just to be sure...if you're that worried.
