What is Tripwire doing?

People are working on a whole bunch of things - coders on fixes/debugging, artists on new content, design team considering tweaks to gameplay (but that will happen more after we are comfortable with stability). And, shockingly, we are listening to the community on that part - trick is seeing our way through the ranting :)

Relly hope that you are working on competativ features!!!

After over a month since release, with the game being released with so many issues, and so many gamers not able to run the game due to "hanging or crashing at splash screen", "random crashes at different points of the game", "crashing after new patches when the game at least ran before the crash", and many other issues .. I believe that gamers have a reason to express their concerns for where this game is going!

Call it ranting if you like, but it's been over a month and I believe most posts have been legitimate and civil!

Here are just a couple of threads that seem to lack answers or maybe even being ignored:

Another question I have is .. I purchased this game basically for the co-op modes that were advertised as being ingame when released.
This mode is also listed on the retail box, yet there is no co-op mode, and I can find nothing from TWI that even mentions when this mode might be available.

Maybe you can at least answer that question for all here who have an interest in co-op??

I purchased this game on Sept. 12, the game has never gotten past the splash screen as you will see by my posts if you read them in the proper threads.
I get no dmp or lauch log even after trying Putz suggestion, although many others have uploaded theirs.
Still no solution!

Analogy:
I know this is a little over the top, but relevant on a smaller scale:

You purchase a new vehicle.
You turn the key and the dash lights come on, but the car won't start:
Would that not upset you?

You turn the key, your car starts, but quits along the roadside at a point unknown to you:
Would that not upset you?

Your car has been running since you purchased it although it has lots of bugs and issues .. your dealer tells you to bring it in for a computer update.
After the update, your car no longer runs:
Would that not upset you?

I think you get my point and I also believe that you would not be so patient as you ask us to be if the illustration above was true .. so maybe you can view these many issues from the gamers point of view, who are dealing with these many issues, are frustrated, but trying to be patient.

RO2 should not have been released in the unfinished state it was in!

I would really like to know if there are any plans for any bigger - combined arms maps? And when I say bigger map, I'm thinking about something like 3-3km. The map that makes rifles sight adjustment beyond 200m usable. The map that justyfy presence of infatry carriers. The map that allow tanks to move further than 100-200m from the spawn point.

TripWire, should we expect maps like that in future?

If they're going to do more combined-arms maps, they need to fix the tanks first. As it stands now the tanks are so broken they actually hinder gameplay. The MG-GunnerBot can insta-headshot anyone on the map from anywhere and can even headshot you through walls. The Panzer basically immune to AT-gun fire, and the T34 doesn't stand a chance against the Panzer anyway.

RO2 should be released in late 2012
You serious? Noons could even imagine the ****storm that would come from TWI saying "The game needs a little more polish, might be out in another year or so". In saying that it seems very few remember how everyone was begging TWI to release the game regardless of bugs:rolleyes:.

Well, maybe if they were more forthcoming in their communication
^You were saying? Isn't it funny how the team is working on exactly the thing people were wanting them to work on?

blah blah blah

There's been plenty of ranting. For example, threads complaining about lack of pins on German uniforms, constant threads "Is this game dying?" "This game is dying" and "This game will be dead" plenty of BF3 related threads as well.

Clearly threads pertaining to actual issues are not considered ranting, and just because there has been no answer in them means they are not read by devs.

As for your question about coop (forum does have a search function): http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=67580&highlight=coop+mode

Simple question: What is Tripwire doing? Are they just doing fixes, preparing the sdk for a launch or thinking about the gameplay decisions they made? I really miss a explanation of what Tripwire is planning with RO2 for the future. Is everything staying the way it is gameplaywise or will there be significant changes? Tell us please.

I also strongly suggest that TW should involve the community.

I really think that this would be appreciated. And I think this is even necessary to let the people have faith in TW again and restore some of the good amount of customer loyalty they lost.

I'm thinking the exact same thing. I really hope they stop 'optimizing' and start worrying about gameplay, as my game is consistently running and looking worse with each patch.

Heres the thing:

If they fix gameplay, I can deal with crashes as bugs. I will be happy to restart my game after a crash and hop back in again.

If they don't fix gameplay, no amount of restarts will make the game better. I'll probably just not bother restarting it and go play another game that actually works and is balanced.

Wilson, I think it would go a long way towards cutting down on the ranting if people (like myself) knew what you were doing. Just a simple official announcement post to say exactly what you just posted here is better than silence -- it creates a vacuum where people can pretty much make up any scenario that they want.

You make it sound like they can just blindfold themselves, take a dart and throw it at the calender in order to decide for a date, and when it just so happens to be the wrong one they can easily take the dart and throw it on a later date.

There are reasons why developers have really tight deadlines, and them wanting to release an unfinished game is not one of them.

i hate publishers, but these are the time when publishers can be useful. They set a date, and they expect the game to be finished at that date; even if it means the dev team has to work 15 hour days.

if they f*** up, they just liquidate the entire team, and give the rights of the game to one of their other developers.

this game honestly need at least 6-9 months more time. it has a lot of amazing features that just arnt utilized properly and come off as gimmicky. TWI appears to be working really hard right now, and is fixing the game rather well; i just want to know why they werent working this hard before.
