I'd love to give mapping a try for RO2, but my head would probably explode from the complexity.
You can make it as complex as you want.
Get the UDK and take a look.
People are willing to help you on.
Unless your working on a city map
i have some questions
1) are there any textures available for jungle or normal textures ?
for example grass, greenery and sand
i only found these "ut" textures in the udk standard download
2) how large should be the worldcube for a medium sized infantry map, do i need a worldcube like in ro?

1) Export textures from RO into the UDK for now if you are uncomfortable making your own. If you are unsure how I can make a quick step by step for you.
i tried it with UDK option "import" in the content browser,
but i didnt find any textures in the RO textures folder.
and i can save the textures only to utx (package) and dds (single texture) in ro sdk
