Yes, I know a million other people have recommended that name as well. But it fits perfectly, so I'm using it.

Some of these suggestions have been made as well.

Ok, let's get hardcore.

First, Hardcore mode isn't a separate difficulty mode. If is just a set of conditions that can be placed on any of the four difficulties.

Ok, the easy ones

1) Number of mobs isn't shown
2) Player's health isn't shown (goes for other players seeing it as well)
3) Armor amount isn't shown (goes for other players seeing it as well)
4) Weight isn't shown
5) Wave number isn't shown
6) Distance to trader isn't shown (Red arrow and trail are still there. Have to have some concession for new maps)
7) Ammo in weapon and total ammo isn't shown
8) Time left in trader wave isn't shown
9) Number of grenades isn't shown
10) Money amount is only shown in trader area

Now the good ones

11) Reloads with ammo still in the magazine, canister, or drum loses that ammo
12) Players can not self-heal
13) Dropped weapons only have a single magazine, canister, drum, or rocket
14) Players can not pick up 3rd tier weapons of different perks
15) Ammo boxes hold a single random type of ammo. If the player doesn't have the weapon for the ammo type, no refill.
16) Some significant percentage of Friendly Fire has to be on. Maybe 20 to 30%
17) Armor and weapons don't spawn
18) Lose 1 weight of carrying for each level. 1 for easy, 2 for normal, 3 for hard, and 4 for suicidal.

Thoughts?

Not a bad idea for people who want the game to be more immersive.

1-10: basically removing the hud, although I reckon there should be more visual clues for alot of those things so players don't get totally lost or there needs to be some way of checking them in game.

11: Slight tweak the ammo in those magz isn't lost, but rather after all full mags have been used, your half empty mags will remain half empty for later reloads.

12: I don't think that would really make alot of sense myself as to how our little syringe works. Unless you jsut healed someone who had aids or something...

13: Thats fair, as long as additional mags may be droppped RO style.

14: Seems again to go against realism. I see why you'd want to add it, but it doesn't really make sense being able to use a bullpup but not a scar...

15: Fine, as long as it is labelled. :)

16: FF is cool, 100% ftw :)

17: Aye more immersive, so fair play. Except maybe when the game starts, but nothing after that.

18: Would mean players cannot take the LAW unless they are a Support, which again doesn't really make sense. Obviously the LAW is hardly a key weapon, but the point remains the same.

I'm fine with a more immersive mode added as long as it keeps things to a realistic stand point. Good ideas there Nutter :)

I would prefer that as well, but I don't think keeping track of the specific mags and the number of rounds in each mag would be possible.

Thanks.

As others have said, 1-10're all right.

And as for the rest, Undedd Jester, instead of constantly citing you, I'll just go ahead'n say now that I agree with your opinions, with just a few differences in my own.

#11, I'm with you two on this one, I'd rather the containers with bits of ammo be sent to the back of the lineup for future use. Although, cue "Argh! Only reloaded four bullets!" but I suppose it'd be better than nothing.

#12, hmm, this one I have a problem with. I realize it increases the need for a medic, and encourages teamwork, but I think if the ability to heal myself was absent, it'd kill this idea for me. Even though I stick with the team, there's been quite a few times where everyone else is preoccupied and I've had to rely on my own syringe gun to keep me going.

#13, no comment.

#14, I don't feel this one makes sense. I understand what you'd like to accomplish with it, but I don't see it as making or breaking any sort of hardcore environment.

#15. Since I rarely find myself relying on ammo boxes, this one'd be very minor. It'd be there, but at least for me, I wouldn't quite notice a difference. Well, I guess an occasional "Aww, I can't get it," would pop up.

#16. I haven't had much experience with friendly fire, but in the few games I have played, it was pretty fun. I agree with this.

#17's all right.

#18, I don't like. That pesky LAW comes to mind. I know, I know, "But who would use the LAW in a hardcore mode anyway?" There'd be people who would use it, and if it was unusable, they wouldn't be happy.

Yeah, I just invented ULTRA HARDCORE game mode:

play with your monitor off - beginner
play with your mouse detached - normal
play with your keyboard detached - hard
play with your your feet while standing on your head - suicidal

Seriously, not another MW2 cliche' ... also, isn't there some kind of console command to disable HUD drawing, like in other games?

The only good idea is ammo loosing on reload. The single mag in weapons lying around is ok provided that discarding player keeps the rest in his inventory.

Number 15 doesn't have a slightest sense - there are so many kinds of ammo that chance of getting yours on pickup is practically equal to zero, given spawn frequency on hard/suicidal. You could just type 'no ammo boxes'.

30% ff is virtually one misplaced shot = team kill with most of the weapons.

14 and 18 have nothing to do with realism. But I bet it wasn't even your point behind that idea.

12 is just plainly mean.

Overall: shouldn't you be playing that new 'impossible' mutator?

Well humm... Ive said this before, but I prefer I gamemode which is hard but not so dependant on luck and giving players random handicaps. Instead of removing things from players, they should add something for the specimens BUT NOT increasing their overall stats. In fact, there could even be entirely new specimens on higher difficulties.

So for example, the next difficulty, wether it would be called Hardcore or Nightmare or what ever, could include stuff like:
- Stalker attacks make players slowly bleed out UNTIL healed.
- Crawlers are poisonous and their attacks slow players down by some percentage, as well as mess around with their vision somehow (again, can be fixed by healing the player).
- Gorefasts could always be running, even when not targetting a player.
- Scrakes could rage as soon as they see the player.
- Fleshpounds could rage as soon as they see the player, and perhaps make them invurnable during the rage animation so players cant just decap him before it even has a chance to attack anyone.
- Clots wouldnt release their grab until killed (so basically shooting them or jumping wouldnt help, until they are really dead). Also would be funny if some of them would still keep crawling on the floor and grabbing players feet :p, even if they wouldnt do any damage at this stage.
...
... and stuff like that

But yeah a Hardcore mode mutator, why not.

1->10 : OK, this kind of thing need a very clean HUD ! :D

11) Ouch, but i think it's OK

12) why not ? This could enhance the team play. :)

13) Good for me

14) I do not agree : they can just take whatever they want. They just don't have bonuses due to their perks.

15) Ouch, i think it would be better to a least have, 1 clip for the 9 mm, 1 nade, and 1 clip of a random other weapon. Well, just my opinion to ensure a minimum of fun.

16) YES : this just need a minimum of friendly fire to make it spicy. :D

17) OK

18) I strongly disagree to this idea !!!!!!!!!!!!! Just let the weight like it is. Otherwise, you would make an awful unbalancement in favor of the support specialist !

To finish, i'd really like to play this kind of mode. :)
