Tactics What counts as headshot?

For leveling sharpshooter, what counts as HS? Does the head have to explode? does it have to kill them? Does it have to kill in one hit?

The enemy must die directly from your shot (it can be shot several times first, but it must not bleed out after you headshot it, it must simply fall down dead).

In my experience the head has to come off and the zed most fall down dead immediately. However, when the bloat takes a HS his whole body explodes still.

Just simple: a shot that make the specimen lose it head is called headshot. Not necessary to kill the specimen to be a headshot.

this is wrong.
I also believe that this was the way it used to be when the game first game out but I think they did a stealthfix because now you get awarded a headshot for your perk on the moment the specimen looses his head, even if he is still alive, wandering around.
You can easily test this yourself on a bloat if you don't believe me
So pop all the heads you can and don't worry about other people "stealing" your kill by shooting the body. You will already have been awarded your headshot.

Yea he does not need to die immediately from the headshot, just as long as his head is taken off.

You're right, they must have changed this in one of the recent patches.
