Tell us about your sport

Basically says it all. Tell us about any sports you do, could be anything.

So, for starters, i'll begin :p
The sport that i've done, and begin doing again is Judo. (Judo basically means 'the soft way'. Wich is a damn lie, since you can fall hard enough :p)
It focuses on speed, and using your enemies power/speed against him, instead of sheer strength.
I've done this for years, and ended up with the brown belt. (for nublets to Judo and other fighting sports that use belts, the order in wich you get belts: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black... Every belt up to the black one is called a Kyu, and the black belt is also known as a Dan. There are 12 addition Dan's. For all i know, the only person to actually own the 12th Dan is Jigoro Kano, the 'creator' of Judo. Highest belt to be owned by anyone else is the 10th one. (Kano only got the 12th Dan after his death though).

Anyways, back to me. I've quit doing Judo when i started a new education, wich, translated, means Orientational Year of the Army :p Wich was basically 1,5 years long, to see if you like the army, and you also get a civilian education on the side, so if you dont like it, you havent wasted an entire year but can continue on with the civilian education.
I decided that 8 hours a week of physical training AND Judo was a bit much. :D
But now i'm doing another education to become sports teacher, and i've begun practising Judo again :)

What i really like about Judo, is it's diversity, and the fact that anyone could do it. We usually get a lot of the 'weird kids' as well: children that have lack of confidence, children who suffer from hyperactivity, children who have social problems etc. It's a great sport for them.
Basically, its easy to learn but hard to master. It's diversity and moves, countermoves, grapplings and chokes and whatnot, makes it so that it stays enjoyable to watch because its never the same.
One could compare it with a game of Cats and Mice.
(something wich kinda annoys me when watching kickboxing matches for example. It's allways just kicking/hitting people, with the occasional 'critical hit'.

Anyways, time for some pictures and a very, very awesome video on youtube :)

Love this one^^

I did some mixed martial arts for about 8 months. We did stuff like BJJ, boxing, mua...(sp?) tai, and wrestling. Stopped over the Summer due to lazyness, and now that I'm 5 hours away in college I can't really do it anymore.
There is a karate club or class here, but I doubt I would like the system since it's completely different then what I'm used to.

I prefer standup rather than the ground game as I'm a ****ty wrestler. And I also got my left head kick, and heavy hands.

Tricking. http://www.trickstutorials.com/

Simply put, a blend of the aesthetic side of martial arts (big unpractical kicks), and gymnastics (mostly tumbling), with it's own personal style added in.

It's a "do anytime, anywhere" kind of sport, and anyone can get into it as long as you're determined enough.

I train with an awesome bunch of guys about every week, and otherwise just train in my backyard.

I could go on for days with videos : p

Fun to watch, and even more fun to do. I'd put videos of myself up, but I am still fairly new, so I couldn't represent it well enough, but I am learning quite fast. Hopefully when I do get better, I'll be able to attend the bigger gatherings.

Ahhh I take Judo too, though I am on a forced sabbatical right now due to a broken nose. Which I got at judo.:D
I also have been taking Shorin-ryu karate for the past 10 years (since i was 5:)), I don't really consider it a sport. But seems like i should talk about it. It is one major Okinawan martial arts, and focuses on very direct and fast motions. Unlike a lot of martial arts there is very little softness in this style of karate.

the only sport i do is rowing, which i suppose makes me better than all of you since it is aerobically the most difficult sport ever.
Um I think aggressive swimming takes more out of you than sitting in a boat with multiple other guys assisting your efforts. Single man Kayakers >than you. Plus you fail anerobically.

IDK, rowing seems exceptionally gay, the first guy putting his face in the coaches balls, and the rest of the guys making incriminating motions with their faces in the next guys *** consecutively... :p

Although speed-walking might be even moar gayerer.

Fly-fishing and tying my own bass fly patterns makes me>gay you. Because I can out smart a fish. :D

Well the past 20 years were filled with many martial arts (traditional karate, tai chi, aikido, jodo), but nowadays I practise with a japanese sword.

http://www.shinkendo.com/

Funny thing is it also has an ancient "dead" practise form (dead = it's not changed since then and doesn't evolve any more) we studied last week.
It was used by the japanese officers in ww2 to clear trenches with a sword. While practising I couldn't help wondering what an american soldier thought when he saw these moves before his head was falling down :D

I used to do Taekwondo (or however it is spelled correctly), and is loosely translated as "the way of the feet and fist" and it was the "international" style rather than Kukkiwon style (please someone correct me if I am wrong, I really don't remember all this **** about this stuff :p). I used to be in 4th kup, aka blue belt.

I still really don't know why I quit it, but I did that for quite a time. I guess lack of interested caused me to drop it eventually, but I still do remember the basics quite well.

Nowdays I really don't have any "regular" sport or activity, with the expection that I practice some weird freestyle combinations once-twice a week and some sort of swordsmanship since I do own a wooden sword that's 41 inches and a katana (one that's designed for practice and is capable of performing generic cutting practices) that's 39 inches and sometimes I practice with about 46 inch long staff also. And sometimes I just go out and do some other exercies like jogging or cycling around.

So nothing really new or exciting.
