Sound Tank engine idling sounds

I am working on a V12 petrol engine for a tank at the moment and have the stop, start and the loop (distant/close) pretty much as I want them.

But when the engine is idling it sounds very odd. I can't find any idling sounds so where does it come from?

Also how is the increase in volume pitch done when the tank turns/slows down etc?

Are the 2 questions related?

*EDIT* OK - I just found out that the idle sound IS the looped sound so what is the sound of the revving then?

the sound system for the engines is very basic in its function, it has one sound alone for the engine driving and idling, when idling the sound is just pitched down using some code that takes the pitch and revs it down according to the RPM of the engine. import your sounds and play around with them.
