So hip shooting is effectively pointless now?

With the speed at which you can bring up the iron sights and get a perfect shot it seems that the it's a mere formality now.

Hip shooting is completely pointless.

Hell I've had my gun training on a door and people have popped through and managed to get their sites up and shoot just as I shoot, way way too fast.

Ehhhh nope, there is no way im using ironsights in close combat. I got raped multiple times today for doing that. Hip shooting is the way to go in close combat.

It's definitely not pointless, I've been lucky enough to nail a few guys through shooting from the hip with both rifles and smg's. I've seen it being done as well, so not just me being brave.

Some plucky basta*d even managed to hip-shoot me with his MG!

Most of my kills with an SMG have been from the hip, save for the few occasions my enemy was unaware of me.

So no, hip shooting is far from useless.

Imo more bullets! Better chance to land one!

Then again realism trying to hit a target with a bolt from the hip is almost unreal..

I agree, The game plays alot quicker then RO1.

Everything is just faster like ADS/going from walking to sprint ect.

But the only thing I dont like is indeed the ADS.
Still love the game

I ran into the houses in Apartments and I killed 3 guys shooting the Russian heavy MG from the hip like rambo...Definitely not pointless lol.

Iron-sights indoors are suicide. You move much slower and you lose a lot of your peripheral vision.

I've had decent luck "Slicing" doors with iron sights. I've killed a fair number of guys in room because I had my sights up, and they tried to shoot from the hip. They missed, I didn't.

Shooting from the hip has its place, but ideally should be avoided and only used when you are surprised/out of place.

As Luckless said, I find sighting indoors far more effective than hipping, by leaning or using cover to edge around.

Also, it just occurred to me why hip-shooting is so much better in close quarters for me; I have the ironsights sensitivity turned down for more accurate sniping at long rage...

Turned up, I imagine it would be quite a bit more useful...

I was playing Apartments last night as a Russian and in the buildings past the bridge after we capped them, there was several team mates going up the stairs and a german ran past me and after then.... he mowed 3 of them down and I chased after him..... I didn't have much time to IS him with my Bolt, so I took three shots from the hip in his direction, eventually the third shot hit him in his hip, then he hit me twice in the arm and leg and then the rest of the team mowed him down while I bandaged up and moved on. I imagine he would have bled out and died from my original hit though

So you can hip shoot a bolt and hit something.... I just wouldn't rely on it.

Hip shooting is def. the way to go in close combat before you get into meele. The point were to aim and the feeling is different now

The ADS should be slowed down because right now,you can aim down your sight so fast you'll never have to hipfire. The freeaim system is pointless now that you can ADS at the blink of an eye. Aiming down the sight took about 2 seconds to do in Red Orchestra Ostfront.

This may sound kind of gay, but when I encounter an enemy in close quarters, I do a quickscope type aim to kill him.
By quickscope type aim I simply mean bring the sights of for a split second to get a general idea as to where I'm aiming - seems to work very well.

Quickscoping comes from the aim-assist in CoD. It automatically snaps to their face or chest when you pull up the ironsights, so kills require no skill, only reflexes.

You can't quickscope in RO because there is no aim assist. If you can pull off an IS shot from that close of a range, it's skill, not the computer snapping your crosshairs onto the enemy.

Actually I was supressed yesterday by a guy with a PPSH so I just stood up and then hip fired in his direction and I killed him at about 50 meters distance but I guess this was a lucky shot.

But I use hipfire when someone suprises me and I don't have time to bring up the sights and this has saved my life a few times already.

Hipshooting is different due to free aim, however it can be achieved with some practice.

The aim point is not screen centre, it's where your weapon points to.

Give it some time and practice, you'll find that it's not pointless at all.
