Tactics question

hm i think most tanks ran on diesel or some mixture, didnt they? the temperature thats needed to ignite diesel is higher than gasoline, and i think on mythbusters (yeah) they shot at a cars fuel tank (gasoline) with a H&K PSG (big calibre, fast bullet, right?) but it neither exploded nor started burning.

And, don't forget, the ammo for the PTRD/S was a solid-incendiary combination, IIRC, which will light someone's fire in gasoline and maybe even diesel. Explosion? Doubtful, since the external tanks would be filled to the top, to avoid just that possibility (gasoline vapors above the liquid mixing in just the right - wrong - proportions to explore), plus to take full advantage of the external tanks and their storage. Also, might be a balance issue, under the right (wrong?) conditions with the liquid sloshing around inside the tanks if they weren't entirely full. Fire? Oh, yeah, you betcha, with a good hit with either the PTRD/S round or an MG that has tracers in the belt/box. ;)
