Anyone ordered or thinking about it ?

Compatible with the Unreal Engine i am told.

Comes with an SDK.

Dont know enough about the compatibility arguments. Any advice ?

I suggest you wait for the consumer version if you're not a developer yourself. The current devkit uses a lower resolution than what the official product will have once it's released. Plus, there will be much more support by then as well.

Not a dev myself but have a couple in the office looking at the SDK for personal use. Looking forward to the feedback.

I would wait for the consumer version with the higher resolution screens.
I had a play around with the oculus rift at the last LAN party i went to was great fun, apart from the horrible horrible motion sickness. I should also mention with the dev kit the resolution is so low you can easily see the lines of pixels and can be quite distracting.

I have a rift myself and love playing around with it

Regarding devs on one of the Rift forums Dave Hensley a TWI dev posted that he got a kit for his personal use. So he probably brought it to the office once and had people try it out. Whether TWI will make something or not though, we will probably never hear in a reply at these wereabouts.

for long range the resolution of the current kits would pose a serious problem

Maybe in the next title TWI comes up with. In order to make this work in RO2, they would need to redo the 1st person model and animation. You would need a torso and legs.

Memory constrains have already caused them to remove the facial animations on 3rd person models.

Would be nice though.

Maybe Killing Floor 2. I think it could be awesome with Rift.

I'll wait for a high res consumer version, maybe rev 2 or 3, when everything is fleshed out. Can't wait to play Elite: Dangerous with this. They just comfirmed Rift support from release.
