New play modes

yeah but have you ever played a game with a npc rescue mission where people dont whine and ***** about the stupid npc not running his *** off or doing stupid things? i would prefer to not have to deal with any npc's that have to move AT ALL; make one of the human players take his place, make him vanish when rescued, do anything that results in him not having to path his way outa there... that ruins the whole 'suspence thing'.

escape could be cool definatly worth making it a 'peice' of an objective map, im not sure how you could make an escape mode a mode of its own; could you elaborate more?
The map is linear, IE, L4D, but you are being chased by zeds. If I said chase mode that'd be a better description. They'd be huge in size like farm or such. Farm would make a great chase map if there was more buildings/map.

I like your modification of my idea. Make it so one of the players just becomes the downed guy so that they are an equal four players or six players but with one that CANNOT die because he is being rescued.

let the creative juices flow, thanks for the input kreig jager. i really like what you had to say because thats very close to what the game is now, but it puts the onus on the players to go forth and bring the game to a close, if they want they can hole up somewhere and defend but that wont fix the problem. ( too often now the game is all about the best defence spot because there is no reason to go kick *** )

As it stands, the game is more like "Survival" than your suggestion. Considering the only way to end the game in your suggestion is for everyone to die, not to survive. So I don't see much a point in simply making it so the game doesn't end until everyone is dead.

Escort sounds good. I haven't read all that's on it here, but from what has been posted in the past, the idea is that one player will take the role of a VIP (without weapons?) who must be escorted to a certain point. I would say that you expand upon this by making certain maps in which you escort a convoy or group of people to a certain "chokepoint", where you must accomplish an objective (fight x waves, fight through to a X, Shut down cloning machines to thin the ranks of the zeds).

In fact, search and destroy would be an excellent mod to the "survival" idea. Waves continue to spawn until you destroy X ammount of equipment. The more equipment you destroy, the more powerful zeds are released, until the patriarch himself comes to deal with this threat. Unless spawning equipment is destroyed, zeds spawn indefinitely.
Spice this up a bit by making a huge map, with a civilian safe zone, civilians locked in random locations (Doors are locked, can be broken down by zeds and the civies killed, or rescued by players) all the while, the zeds are spawning.

This makes it a bit more complex, in that it's about both protecting civilians and destroying zeds...but either approach can somewhat help with the other.

I would love to see a new game mode such as "search and destroy " or "escort" pretty much .
How many DLC to buy untill this become a reality TWI ? :p

ps: seriously aint got any problem to buy more DLC ( same as i already did ) if u make a new game mode like that. ( not saying this like treathing u TWI , God kill me right now if it sounds in that way.) :p

Objective maps and some of the more "out there" ideas will probably be saved for if there's a KF 2, or left to other games entirely. A fps-rts hybrid game should be left to a game dedicated to that concept.

Survival: Unlimited numbers of waves, until you die. But the number of specimens in each wave greatly increasing, after each wave.

This should be really easy to do, especially if there's a community map like this as someone suggested. Making a new game mode so you can play unlimited waves on any map should be the first thing implemented. It would be very interesting to see how many more waves teams can survive on suicidal (15 would be impressive, 20 would be uber hardcore).

It would make for fun bragging rights (log says how many waves/ how long you survived) and would bring in a lot of late-game strategy. Players would have to stockpile extra weapons at each trader location and quickly reload them between waves. After running out of ammo they would quickly drop the empty guns and pick up their backups. The team would have to be organized and not pick up each other's weapons, especially if they're for different perks.

Everyone on the team would have to be lvl 5 or 6 to make it much past wave 10 suicidal. Losing one player at wave 15+ would doom the whole team. Communication would be essential for pointing out high-threat targets, along with intelligent prioritization (husks first, then fps, sirens, scrakes, bloats etc.) Also the team would have to have optimum long-range effectiveness for maximum life span, i.e. 2 xbow sharpshooters, 1 commando, 1 xbow medic, and possibly 2 demos for group clearing.

Unlimited waves mode would give the best players a new challenge and push the new weapons beyond their limits.

I would also like to see PvP mode with zombies vs. survivors, similar to l4d, but unlimited waves would be much easier to implement.

Can a player be a better Patriarch?

Can a player be a better Patriarch?

If a player played as a Patriarch would he/she play it better than the AI?

I think it would be great if their was a game mode play as the Patriarch. You wouldn't play all the levels but directly go to level 11. Players would get a set amount of money to buy guns. They wave some time limited of course to set up a place to fight. The player as the Patriarch would have all specials skills as a normal Patriarch with one extra. The Patriarch/Player would have the ability to spawn a set amount of amount of specimens to fight with. The Patriarch/Player can only spawn specimens at a certain level and only where he/she can see. Tripwire can offer the best Patriarch achievement or something similar.

What do you think?

im quite surprised other people are bumping this now, makes me feel all warm inside :D.

does anayone else on this forum have any new ideas (other then beserker fapages, and new guns we need to add for no reason)


Just thinking, but a parachute insert could actually be really really cool, however the maps are all so small that it would probably look like crap.


One thing i will say for now, can we please have all of the close quarters maps from RO added to KF; mainly stalingrad, and kransyi.
