I was thinking of how you are "assigned" weapons for each class at levels 5 and 6. And you have no choice of what you wanted to pick.

Example:
Level 5 Firebug: Spawns With Flamethrower
Level 6 Firebug: Spawns With Mac-10 + Combat Armor

A lot of people have been complaining about this for the firebug but why make it just for the firebug? Why not for every class?

My suggestion is to at level 6 you can choose if you want the level 5 spawn equipment or the level 6 spawn equiptment.

Support Specialist:

Level 5: Shotgun
Level 6: Hunting Shotgun
What if some people would prefer to have the shotgun over the hunting shotgun? At level 6 they can have a choice between the two.

Sharp Shooter:

Level 5: Lever Action Rifle
Level 6: Crossbow

What if some people would prefer to have the Lever Action Rifle over the crossbow (unlikely since you can sell the crossbow for a lot of money)
At level 6 they can have a choice between the two.

Firebug:

Level 5: Flamethrower
Level 6: Mac-10 + Armor

What if some people would rather have the Flamethrower over the Mac-10 + Combat Armor? Now they can choose.

Demolition:

Level 5: (X2) Pipebombs
Level 6: M79 Grenade Launcher + (X2) Pipebombs

By getting to level 6 all you get is M79 extra on top of the pipebombs you get a level 5 so there would be no point in doing this for the Demolition class.

Commando:

Level 5: Bullpup
Level 6: AK-47

What if some people would prefer the bullpup over the AK-47? Will now they can choose between them at level 6.

Berserker:

Level 5: Chainsaw
Level 6: Chainsaw + Combat Armor

By getting to level 6 all you get is the Combat Armor on top of the Chainsaw so just like the demolition class there will be no point in doing it for this class.

Medic:

Level 5: Combat Armor
Level 6: MP7M Medic Gun

By getting to level 6 all you get is the MP7M on top of the chainsaw so just like the demolition and berserker class there will be no point in doing it for this class.

It does not have a downside to it because it would not be overpowering any class and you have a choice whether you want to switch weapons or not.

Please Rate this thread "thumbs up" if you think its a good idea and "thumbs down" if you think its a bad idea. Feel free to leave feedback as well.

Thumbs down, been suggested a bunch of times before, and kinda pointless. The xbow / LAR thing is a perfect example why, and for the chainsaw thing, there needs to be some kind of challenge involved with the first wave, so what's the point of giving a vest to a zerker? 99% of the people that play zerker first wave that I know spawn as sharpie and switch really quick anyway to be able to sell that bow.

The change is not only for the berserker and sharp shooter its for every class. I even said that it would be useless or nearly useless for sharpshooter, demolitions, berserker and Medic. You have a choice of whether you want to change your weapon or not.

Instead of giving weapons/armor at lv5/lv6, just give increased starting money. You can buy whatever you want with it, and the first round is still a challenge since you can't buy anything until the first round ends, solves both problems.

But then it would be difficult to complete wave 1 which is supposed to be the easiest. if your playing on Suicidal and Hell on Earth (Which you should be at level 5 or 6) then you would know that it takes several bullets to the head from a non sharpshooter class to kill even a clot. And Obviously more for a gorefast. It would make wave 1 harder than a few waves above wave 1. And with increased starting money it would completely negate the point in spawning with less money on harder game modes that were implemented in the game to make those game modes harder as they should be.

Seriously, why is everyone voting this thumbs down? I've had this idea lingering in my head for a while, and I have to say that I like it. What would be the downside of it? Sometimes, you just want to spawn with a Flamer instead of a Mac10. Or a shotgun instead of hunting shotgun. Stop being so damn negative.

This idea has been around for ages but TWI never implemented it so I doubt they ever will. Still I think its a great idea as long as you cant choose any higher tier weapons you normally couldnt spawn with. You wouldnt be any stronger than usual, just get the weapon you prefer.

When you reach Level 6, being able to choose between the LVL 5 and LVL 6 spawn items would be quite nice sometimes but in some cases redundant.
If you have the ability to choose between one or another without stacking (by default at LVL 6 you would spawn with the LVL 6 equipment) I have no problems with it.

Pretty lame reason to thumb someone down, especially when people in general seem to agree with the idea.

Anyhoo, I like this idea. I'm not a fan of using a hunty on wave 1, I prefer the pumpy. Let me use my pumpy, dammit. >:[

I think such a feature would be good, but I'd like all weapons you start with to have the same sell price, and starting ammo should be adjusted for the weapon (so something weaker like the bullpup would have more ammo than the AK47).

Might be nice to allow the player to use the shop before spawning actually (with limited funds, and discounts according to your perk) so you can choose whether to start with a more beefy weapon like a hunting shotgun or armour with another pistol or something.

gotta say that I don't want this. since it will destroy the easy spawn and start kind of gameplay.

but if there was a "weaponspawn menu" in the game's "main menu" that allowed to do whatever you wanted to do. like the "new call of duty's" have. then it maybe would be a yes.

but mention "call of duty" is kinda a idea/threadkiller. :O

i could see no problem with this as long as there was some kind of customization limit for each perk. itd be bad to have overly powered perks. and it would probably have to be done in the main menu only though.
