How the RS launch could have been handled

Another major annoyance for players (and us) was that just about every time we have updated RO 2, the single player content has broken (even though we made no changes to it). With the release of Rising Storm, that content will be rolled out of the multiplayer portion of the game and into its own application so that will not happen again (this also has the added benefit of saving space for those who only care about the multiplayer).

So this is the section here:

Nice.

Yoshiro. Deleted, not rolled out was the term you were looking for. Thank you for the extra space. But I still would prefer you not to Delete my games, without prior warning. Next time be aware of that. Actually just don't delete.

Obviously your audience has evolved beyond me. But if I've bought it. I still want to keep it. Think you can remember that next time?

I love reading forums a few days after game releases, it's the best free entertainment around.

Yeah. I've never gone on Bohemia Interactives forums. To look for answers as to why, they did something like this.

ARMA is as buggy a game as there could be. But I like how they engage with there community. Tripwire hide. And hope their community will shield them. From the onslaught.

I guess. I'm spoilt by BI's business ethics

In reply to Moskeeto's original question - it's all about Steam app IDs.

The main drive behind the way it ALL was done was to avoid splitting the community, and that meant adding RS to the RO2 app ID.

I understand that. What I meant is to make the RS content an optional download into the RO2 folders so that those that didn't want it wouldn't have been whiny about it. And those that didn't opt in to download the content would simply be kicked from the server once changed to an RS map for not having it on their drive. I'm honestly very happy with the update.

Here's an example of optional free DLC: http://store.steampowered.com/app/202181/
