Tactics Fleshpounds! Don't shoot em on sight

After getting wiped by Fleshpounds two times in a row with public players i got a little pissed and decided to give some advise what to do and what not to do.

First of all, this dude is not a tank. Don't shoot all you got on him once he is in sight, just please don't!
Maybe... maybe you noticed the yellow/red bar in his chest, that shows if he is in rage or not. As long as he is yellow, everything is fine. He will be like a cute kitty and u can easily run him out even if you carry a lot. So, did i mention not to shoot him on sight?

Fleshpounds are the toughest enemies except the Patriach, but the people who should read this probably didnt see him on normal/long yet.

-First thing you have to do is to decide which tactic you want to use for him. Depending on that you should have Fleshpound Setups ready on wave 6+.
-You can either just go 2 or 3 support with hunting shotgun or one hunting shotgun and a flamer. IF someone is good with LAW, do LAW + Hunting Shotgun.
-When u spot a Fleshpound DO NOT SHOOT, notify your team where he is and quickly decide what to do:
-> If he is one of the last enemys in the wave or you have lots of space to run around without beeing surrounded do tactic 1.
-> If its a tight space or there are lots of other enemys around and you cant leave where you barricaded do tactic 2.

tactic 1:
This works really good on open maps like westlondon or farm or just when you killed almost all other enemys. Don't all shoot him at once, speak with each other and let one guy fire single shots and run. If you do 2 headshots with winchester, switch to knife and run a bit, 2 headshots again he won't go into rage! This gives him a behaviour like mentioned above. Works fine when one guy focusing with that tactic on the FP and the others shoot a way free for them to move.

tactic 2:
Kinda like all or nothing. If you dont have enough space to lure or need to get rid of him fast, tell your team to just hold fire and then give him the most concentraded blow u got. This means 2xdouble barrel headshot point blank or 1xshotgun and 1xrocket. That way he dies right when he goes into rage. Another way is to have a flamer guy incinerate him from most possible long range and then while the FP is charging at him do the "doublebarrel to the head"-thing.

As for now, i keep playing with friends only or solo till people found out how he works. Hope a few people read this.

uhm.. I play it like this:
I'm a level 2 support btw.
•Hunting Shotty (1 person)
•Double Shot
•Run!!
•Repeat (dead within about 5 seconds or so.. depends)

I don't do that though.. I skip the run step and walk backwards :p takes about 2-3 double shots to kill, depending on what level your support is and how close you get up to him to shoot.

this is for normal.. and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS!!!!! call in backup if you need it.. so be sure there IS someone around you.. or you might die 80% of the time :p

I could somewhat say that you can kill single Flesh Pound (on normal that is, no idea about hard so far) with some minor firearms and with a chainsaw. Berserker + chainsaw + people distracting him (aka being his target), making Flesh Pound go ape****, slicing up his arse and prepareing to run like hell while others keep emptying their magazines has worked quite well.

I guess the fundamental diffrence in those cases was that the entire team had some kind of communication and excellent overall coordination. It's quite satisfying to slice FP's head off with a chainsaw :D

FP rage is based on Damage per Second. Using a gun with lower power infrequently allows one to whittle down the FP's hp without sending it into a rage. Say a bullpup or handcannon.

If you want to go the high DPS route, use a powerful weapon, like the Xbox, and aim or headshots. Or hunting shotgun it's body. Or LAW.

The major thing to remeber is that the damage it does about is (i think) around or over 5 times as much. So you can't take very many hits.

Some other tactics include using a high level medic with vest or berserker to tank the FPS for a few hits (this works for lower difficulties only).

What I've found that works quite well (at least in my normal/hard games with a group of 3 or 4 people total) is to turn the bastards into giblets. It would seem that all thrown grenades will explode when the first one thrown explodes. So, what we've started doing is having 2 people throw 3 grenades each (or 3 people throw 2 grenades each) and the last person (who didn't throw any) shoots him to make him stop moving while he starts his rage. Then, all of the grenades go at once and he's turned in to a fine red mist. We're not sure if 3 or 4 grenades are enough, so we use 6 just to make sure. And then we usually have enough to take down a second one.

Also, regarding melee on fleshies, it's possible. As long as someone has the balls to piss it off and run away from it while a berserker swings wildly with a chainsaw, it can work. I've got the achievement for killing one in melee, and my mate only took a single hit (and lived through the rest of the round).

I'm at level three Support Specialist Perk and I fine that the Double Barreled shotgun works wonders on him. (middle mouse button shoots both barrels) ...I can solo them on Normal difficuly fine. Have to have help on hard. I haven't even dared to try suicide yet....lol

Double shotty also blows those nasty chainsaw wielding zombies back pretty far...Helps a lot..

first of all, you should tell everyone what you mean with "tank" :) I'm sure not every Killing Floor - Gamer played Left 4 Dead!
good teamplay = flesh pound dead in less than 5 seconds!

we once played offices and suddendly out of nowhere there was a flesh pound! I unloaded 2 rockets out of my L.A.W and everyone was shooting like hell and when the smoke did clear we were like "wtf is he dead?", "looks like he is", "wow, thats weak!"

No matter how many fancy tactics you come up with here, the fact is that someone IS going to shoot and rage the Fleshpound before you want them to. Personally, I'd focus on learning to dodge one. You have to get them caught on the terrain. Duck behind a car, around a bus, ect. Hopefully the FP will get stuck. After a few seconds, it should unrage (Unless the morons keep shooting it...). That's when you take out your knife and RUN!

Yep, everyone has a plan until it fails.

I'm also starting to see what truly gets people killed around fleshpounds: people obsessing with the 'pound and ignoring some of the OTHER dangerous critters around. Easy to not notice that clot grabbing you while you're kiting the fleshie...or the 2-3 Sirens off to your right about to mess your day up...
