I completely agree with you sir!
The idea of early war maps could allow us to utilize weapons that were used... of course early in the war.
Some examples of EARLY firearms:
M1 Garand
Remington M14 Battle Rifle, was replaced by the M16 series rifle,
M1903 Springfield Bolt Action Rifle
S&W Model 17
Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless
Thompson M1A1, still used by the Vietcong chinese copy,
Winchester Model 1912
M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle
Owen Gun (Used by the Australians)
M20 Super Bazooka
M31 HEAT Rifle Grenade
--------------------------------------------
Some examples of LATE firearms:
(And when i say LATE it could mean right after the early firearm was replaced, so don't go thinking i am meaning towards the end of the war)
Colt M16 series
M3 Grease Gun
Ithaca M37
M40 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle
M21 Sniper Weapon System
M60 Machine Gun
M72 LAW
Stoner 63
F1 Sub Machinegun (Used by the Australians, replaced the Owen Gun)
------------------------------------------------------
Other firearms such as the following:
M1 Carbine
M2 Carbine
Remained throughout the war
If you are wondering why you don't see any weapons listed for the
Vietcong / North Vietnamese Army / Khmer Rouge / Pathet Lao / NLF
Is because, if you are one of these countries, it did not really matter what firearm you recieved. As long as it shot bullets and was able to kill, it was what was issued.
None of these groups really swapped out firearms for a better version.
Some examples of firearms they used follow:
Walther P38 (limited amounts, supplied to the Vietcong mainly by the Soviets)
Type 14 Nambu Pistol (Captured from Japanese and used by NVA officers)
MAS-36 Rifle (Captured from French during the First Indochina War)
PM-63
K-50M (Chinese variant of the PPSH)
MP-40 (Supplied by the Soviets)
Type 99 Rifle (Captured from Japanese)
Degtyarev DP Light Machinegun
Kalashnikov AKM Assault Rifle
Type 56 Assault Rifle
SKS-45 Rifle
STG-44 (Supplied by Soviets)
Type 99 Light Machinegun
Mauser KAR-98K
Mosin Nagant....
Must i continue?...
They did not care what firearm they were issued.
I know i did not list every single firearm used in the Vietnam War because of the fact that there are so many types of firearms that could potentially be implemented into Rising Storm 2: Vietnam
I, for one, FULLY support this idea and think it should be implemented for more variety and new combat situations. It is realistic because it shows the improvement of technology throughout the war.
