Digital Camera Help, Memory Card help

I have a 2GB XD memory stick, I took some 300+ pictures on it. However, when I try and access the memory stick on the computer, it keeps asking me to format it as if nothing was on it, even though there are pictures on it.

I am using a memory card reader which is hooked up to the PC via USB. I was able to access the card on another computer, but on my computer I cannot. If I put the card back in the camera I can view the pictures.

Anyone ever have similar problems or a solution?

Can you hook up the camera directly to your USB port? Perhaps a wire like that came with your camera... you should be able to view the pics then.

I don't have the cable to hook it up directly, but I will buy one and try it. I still don't know why it is doing it though. I have another memory card 128mb and it opens up just fine and I can transfer the pics over.

@fiftyone: no, it is not full, not even half full.

I have problems like this with certain cards and readers. I would say try it with different card readers, or a different computer all together. Though transferring it from the camera itself should present no problems, so if you can get the cable then do that.

I have one SD card that just won't work in my card reader, while my other ones will, so I just use a different card reader for it and I have no problems.

Same here, I've a Kingston usb memory stick that works every where, except one darn computer, its one of the same series that I built myself, same MB's, same HD's same everything, go figure/figer...

First thing to do: whichever computer you CAN read it on, copy the photos to! Safety first, in case something stupid happens...

I read somewhere that some of the newer card cannot be read by older card readers. Gotta get to work, but its probably a compatibility issue.
