Crash when Connecting to a server....

This just started a little while ago, whenever I launch the game
and try to connect to a server it just freezes at the black screen
that is showing you the "Connecting" thing and the IP of the server.

I have no idea why this started, I could use some help xD

Post your redorchestra log after this happens.

Does it kill the program completely? Do you have to end task it?

Have you changed anything recently? Like downloaded the SDK...? (This is when it broke for me)

You can try renaming your ini files and see if it works after it creates new defaults.

Any more info you can give would help. If you come into the #rohelp IRC channel on gamesurge someone can probably help quicker.

Yeah, I cant get the log or anything. I just tried it again and it
just completely freezes the computer to where I cant do anything.

I also uninstalled the SDK, but no luck.
And it was doing this before I installed the beta patch/ I got rid of
the patch and still no luck

I deleted the RedOrchestra and the User ini's and that didnt do anything
either

I guess I just gotta hope the new patch will somehow fix it lol....

Try playing in windows mode, and when it happens, killing the ro process (if it lets you). Then get us the redorchestra.log file located in the RO/System directory.

Looks like the log got cut off. Nothing useful there.

So the crash is just cutting off the log right before the
problem can be added to the it lol???

Don't suppose you've installed any firewall type programs in the past few days?

Just the default XP firewall, I do have Spyware Doctor but that
I only run that when I'm doin spyware scans..... :\

You think maybe the new patch will somehow fix this

There is an off hand chance, but the more we know about the problem, the better chance we have of clearning it away.

Have you installed anything on your computer in the last few days?

Do you have the SDK installed? That has caused problems after the last STEAM update and cause the freeze when connecting error...

The reason I asked about the SDK is because I got exactly the same problem as what you're describing with the SDK installed, the last Steam update caused it. I ended up deleting the SDK folder and the SDK GCF and it worked for me again. If you've done this I have no idea what else could be causing it.

I uninstalled the SDK last night, that didnt work for me......

This started a couple weeks ago, maybe it could have been
an update to Steam that I didnt know about

Oh, and I havent installed anything lately either : \

hello, i have the same problem. i can host a game without any problems but i cant joine one. When i join serverbrowser everything is good until i join a server. than there is the black screen with "connecting (F10 cancels)" and it stucks. 20 minutes and more...
i cant hit f 10 and i have to cancel the red orchesta prozess ...

I just thought maybe u need to check your render device? But i would remember what it was in the beginning. Im not smart with these things.

*UPDATE!!!

I just hopped on the computer and decided to delete the
whole Red Orchestra Directory in an attempt to fix my problem,
to make a long story short, it worked lol.....
