Combat Mission: Strike Force

If there was a modern conflict where opposing forces were somewhat equal, it could be a good game. Until then, I'll stick with WWII and fictional wars.

I have no interest in "playing" the American invasion of Iraq. Which is a complete disaster anyway.

Well, for multiplayer, there is blue on blue and red on red, so it can be as equal as you want it to be.

Combat Mission is nothing like a shooter, it's the imo most realistic strategy/tactic game available and I guess that Combat Mission Strike Force will higher the bar even more.
And btw. you are fighting against Syria, not Iraq.

It's a turn based game (talking of the Combat Mission games set in WW2, not sure how SF will play out). You make your turn, your opponent makes his turn and THEN the result is calculated and displayed in a one minute let's say "result phase", so after all both sides move their stuff the very same time, only that they have no stress while planning and can not influence the outcome of their orders, they have to wait for the next round. The idea of that is that you can order a lot of stuff in reality, but it often does not work that way and takes time untill everyone get the (new) orders (units without connection to its superiors need more time). You enter an ambush, unexperienced units panic fast, run away ....
In this game the units have their own will so to say.

In SF iirc you can alter your orders during the "result phase" after some time, but not sure on that.

There have been some updates recently, and things are turning for the better.

A new website has been put up (with lots of new screenshots):

An interview as well, discussing the game as a whole:

So far, from what I can make out, small, slit trenches are possible (theres a screen in the forums somewhere), which is a good thing compared to CMx1's 20m wide trenches. And It looks like their first module will be for the USMC, followed by doing a British module than theres still debate on either a German module or Canadian, or a group of countries.

Overall, things are looking good. :)

Here are some videos, not directly related to forces or equipment, but rather to the combat you might see in the game (please refrain from "political comments"):

Hmm, I wonder why on earth:

1. In CMBO some high-calibre cannos in tanks (Jagdtiger and such) has the asme sound.
2. In CMBB IS-2 and such has also the same cannon sound, so:
3. Why on earth we still have the same sound in Abrams? :p

But anyway, I guarantee the moment this arrives in stores the moment I am there buying it.

must buy for me.

btw i have been once in syria back in the 80's --haha we have been hold for inspection at damaskus airport for like almost a whole day till we payed us free to move on freely -- we payed with parfume german marks and some little electronic-toys we had in the bags as gifts to children.

every policeofficer there wants some bribe - i bet in a war situation those hungry people would revolt against their ruler - son of a ..."the lion" they say
