Alright I've attempted to make a unique creature here, i would sho artwork cos it would be sweet, but I'm a crappy artist therefore none to show. Sorry :p Also, I don't have a name for this creature yet so I welcome suggestions.

This creature would be pretty freaky to see in game, the idea is that it is pretty much a torso that is so hunched over it is more like a ball. It would have limbs sprouting out from a load of different places, somewhere along the lines of having 7 legs and 3 arms or something like that, it needs a lot of legs for this next part. The movement of this creature is where the originality falls in. Due to it's extrememly horrible posture, it can't walk normally, so instead it utilises it's extra legs by falling forward until it lans on another pair of it's various legs. It would look very much like a very demented cartwheel/roll.
Due to it's movement, it would be quite difficult to headshot, but I thought of adding an extra head. Thsi creature could have the same health as a Fleshpound (if not removing heads), no where near the attack and no ability to rage. The reason for so much health is since it has two heads, it could be made so that when both heads are taken off, it dies, however destryoing one head has little effect. So SharpShooter would find this creature difficult and would be better off taking other enemies while maybe a Commando or a Support Specialist take this guy on due to larger area of damage and faster fire rate. It 's extra head could be on it's back or in an armpit facing out the back or something.
I thought that this creature would also add to the awesome freaky feel that the killing Floor graphics offer. Maybe its mouths could be sewed up along with its eyes or something, this idea is fairly common in horror based things but there's no patent on it.
Also, it'd be awesome when it "rolls" over a pipe and legs go everywhere. I can see it now...

Anyway, hope that i've provided you guys with a good idea, or at least an interesting one, if anyone wants to try for artwork or suggest changes, cool bananas. No "This dude is a troll!" You should know me well enough by now to know that I have as much time as you do for repeated threads.

I'm not sure that gorefasts could be considered science. If you want some sort of story how about...
He was so in love with his children that whenever the survivors leave the battle scene, he tries to collect what he can of left over limbs and tries to sew up an even stronger creature. There. Now lets not worry about technicalities, actually try and tell me about the pros and cons of possible gameplay.

And I haven't played Dead Space, I wouldn't mond trying it out if it's horror based though...

Gorefasts did that to themselves, they're masochists.

Don't think they're emo though

desire for attention vs physical pleasure. Masochists are not emos (however, some emos may be masochists), they simply find pleasure in pain, in feeling (also, some masochists actually have their feelings based off of more indirect feelings than plain old pain, but you get the picture). So yes, they cut themselves, but no, they do not cry and whine about their emotions.

Just clarifying further to help Benoix's case here:p

Sorry, your creature design it sounds like it's been warped by...like demons! Any specimen should really look human and if it could have been grown as a clone, this sounds too much like a Nercomorph - a la la Dead Space -

(On a side note, Dead Space 2 looks really brillant, I highly suggest that folks should look into it)

I'd say gameplay wise the Sharpshooter doesn't really need taking down another notch, people are already raging at him enough (Unfairly I feel but enough). The other problem is if you make it so it needs a headshot to kill it, but then make it as strong as a fleshpound then you've got a creature that no class can really kill, because its head hit box would have huge HP, and be all over the place.

I think in terms of a specimen design it does sound like a good monster, but it doesn't sound like a specimen. The most consistent feature of a specimen is they are all humanoid. 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 head, so this creature would just look vastly out of place and break the immersive feeling of the game.

In terms of creepyness factor, I feel a huge disfigured creature loses its sting once you are familiar with it. The best ways to get a creepy feeling is to have something that surprises you, and continually surprises you.

As an example when I played Yoyobatty's port of the original singleplayer campaign the specimen that scared me the most was the humble stalker. In regular KF the stalker has got me once or twice in the LONG time I've played the game, but mostly they create the least problems of any specimen in the game. In the port however the combination of the dark map lighting, the specimens not talking and general ambience of the game, I actually jumped out of my skin 5 times in 1 play through. (Now I know where they spawn so they don't get me so bad, in in a wave they could appear any time.)

My point is there are easier ways of actually scaring players, and I think just making a huge ugly monster isn't go to do it. Good monster suggestion mind, just I feel it wouldn't go into KF.

-----------------------------

On a side note I was thinking about posting a specimen idea myself, but I can't really draw, I can draw Ok in paint, but not good enough for me to be confident enough to post it as a suggestion, I have never used any 3d modelling programs and I have no programming experience whatsoever....

So since I can only put what I think it should do down, I don't think it would be worth it :)

Fair enough, I agree 100% with that. I guess we can close this thread then, but this also helps me to understand what it is that makes Killing Floor creatures so effective. Thanks guys! :D

Is Dead Space first person and do you guys recommend it? I've never played it and I really wan to know what it's like...

No worries, nice thought in the post, and for Dead Space this would actually be a very cool addition :)

Dead Space isn't first person no, its third person, kinda like Resident Evil without the really crap camera controls but its still very good. If you sit and try and pick it apart it does have its flaws (mostly just in the chaarcter build up if anything) but if you allow yourself to just get immersed in it and focus on surviving it does keep you very much on the end of your seat.

It does a great job of making your own mind work against you, since you start feeling like you can be attacked by anything at any moment. Even though nothing may attack you for a good 10 minutes, you still second guess every step that you take, so the suspense is killer.

If you see it going cheap its worth a look.
