So im currently working on a Tonfa Baton for Killing floor. Yes its simple because its my first time using any sort of 3d program and its my first time doing anything of the such.

Im currently in the process of animating this. (could take a while) But in the meantime ive been wondering how the hell am i gonna get this in game? much less make it a mutator? i dont know diddly squat about coding or anything of the sort. I was wondering if someone was willing to offer some help and we could make this a team effort. or maybe theres a template somewhere i can use to make a mutator? Call me stupid but the mutator guides on the forums are a bit complex and hard to understand. But if i could (or if someone could help) id really start making tons of mutators for killing floor. I have the time and the passion to do so. :eek:

Making it a usable weapon would be easy (Base it off a current melee weapon). Same goes for mutator, it could be added as a default weapon or a shop item. Funny thing actually, for us (Coders,Level designers, modelers and every other flavor) there is never enough animators when you need one. :p

these topics should help - but i will expect you to ask questions along the way - just do so in one thread (this one) - for people to keep track of - then any other beginners can follow your progress from start to finish and see what you learnt along the way

responses are sometimes slow on these modding boards - so be patient - but it shouldnt take as long for weapon help, as many people are doing that

and dont forget - you dont have to use these boards alone - Killing floor is based on unreal engine 2.5 - there are many games that use this engine and have all have some sort of modding commnity - and the best thing about modding for the same engine - is that it all has the same set of instructions

if you get stuck also look for unreal tournament 2004 modding boards - your questions can possibly be answered there

Lol thanks Webley. Im definelty willing to animate and texture things for coders. Lol i really need coders and crap or someone to teach cuz idk how. and 3dsmax makes animating easy. So someone lend me your skillz! lol :p and thanks web ill definelty take a look at those.
Oh and also yes i was wanting to have it as a shop item and give it perk bonuses and such. obviously for zerker. Is there any way to make the secondary fire a block? so that the user takes even less damage somehow?

im sure there definitely is a way to code it for a block

what you want to do maybe is team up with a coder - but that is sometimes the hardest bit - You need to find someone who can code who is interested in your idea and doing the same project as you.

if the baton idea falls to its feet im sure many people will scream out for an animater - wolfpackclan could maybe use you on our next project... :)

Ive got plenty of free time. And im not great at animating really but 3dsmax makes it easy. Actually all i did with the baton was take the knife animation from KF and edit it out till it looks how i want it to :D

little tip for blocking / attacking - look at the code for the shieldgun in the SDK - if you cant find the file im talking about - search for "shieldgun" in file type ".uc" using this app http://www.harddisksearch.com/ or windowsgrep

Sadly im no good with coding. I am studying it tho. However i think im gonna get a buddy of mine to code it for me. He says hes almost done with his Barret .50 so we will see what comes next. unless i can get some other coder with a little more time on his/her hands to help me out lol
