A Moment of Nostalgia

Started playing when version 1003 was the newest, back in May or so. Doom2, Concert Hall, Mos Eisley, and West London were played among my friends' listen servers just about constantly. Nowadays I F10 when I see a public server rotate to one of those maps (not that anyone plays Mos Eisley or Concert Hall anymore).

Oh, the days of overpowered Support Specialists, and Medics with their insane +50% run speed. Every support in every server seemed to dominate the scoreboard by a huge number, dropping zeds easily. Who ever thought Sharpshooters would have become overpowered with their handcannons and lever actions?

Supports and medics are still, to this day, epic in my book:D

Just in a different way, I guess

Doom2 is still fun to me, except for the fact that whenever my server switches to it oodles of mentally challenged people join the server. Usually if i want to play doom2 with my friends i password my server so we can actually have fun, every other map my server switches to doesn't seem to attract that many mentally challenged people.

yes; this happens to me too.

And I actually often play doom servers.

I used to play the FF doom public servers, but most people don't seem to understand the concept that unloading a SCAR clip into my back will kill me.

Yeah.

How would you even know that kind of thing, anyways?

Does anything track whos first to what? I dont think so, but I may be wrong.

I guess I don't know 100% for sure, but I've played KF longer than anyone I know (over 1000 hours) and I had it back when the game came out. This was back when Killing Floor was released and Support Specialists had 100% penetration on all shotgun shells so it was very overpowered and everyone played as Support. Old-schoolers will know what I'm talking about.

Yeah, I think Nubbers kinda beat you on that one. I mean, we have people here who followed the mod from the start and bought multiple copies of the game the day it wad released.

Im sure you were an eraly player, but I doubt the very first to reach lvl5. There are too many zealous KF fans who would lay dibs on titles like that:D

I wish I was the first to buy a copy

But then again, I didn't buy my copy...all credit goes to Yomommassis on that one

So Im guessing you were playing KF in the early days?

By the way, just a quick question:

Are specimens completely immune to fall damage?

And, if so, if one goes off the edge of a map, does it die when it lands on the gray plain beneath, or does it remain alive? And, if its alive, what does it do?

And what happens if you replace the word "Specimen" with "Patty"?

So, if they fall off the map, they survive?

And what happens?

Is there a mechanism killing anything that touches the bottom of the plain?

Or will the specimen just sit there like an idiot?

They should do, if there is something for them to land on.
But if they somehow fall literally out of the entire map, into the nothingness around it, then im pretty sure they die.

Although take KF-Offices for example, I think there might be Kill Zones or something at the back of the building out the windows that will kill specimens if they go in it.

An experienced mapper should be able to provide better answers than me.

I was thinking about manor.

I used to explore back there all the time, and if you went off the edge, you saw that the map was floating over a massive gray plain that seemed to just go on and on.

The height alone would have killed me if I fell, but there might be another mechanism (?).

Most likely there is a floor, and the specimen would just wander around the map. i've Spectator moded specimens that were in the lake on DammageV3b.

wouldnt they have to follow pathing in order to wonder aound? Or would they chase the players around and try to wait underneath them?

And the patty....would he start firing rockets at the underside of the map?
