The battle you would most like to see represented in RS

For me it would be the Battle of Peleliu, modeled after episode 5 and 6 of The Pacific.

I think this would be most interesting because it has a mix of different kinds of combat. First there is the beach landing, which would be cool in itself. Then you land onto a narrow beach leading into thick jungle, where sub machine guns are at an advantage. Mostly close combat there. From there gameplay becomes mostly long-range rifle combat as the Marines have to attack the airfield. This is where tanks come in as well.

I like maps where there is a mix of different gameplay styles, especially if the map ends in an epic last stand, such as Berlin and Kriegstadt (defense of Moltke Bridge). This is what makes a map great, in combination with players being able to use multiple-story buildings. I think the Battle of Peleliu would be perfect for such gameplay.

Basing certain maps on The Pacific episodes would be nice. It would attract a lot of people to the mod and RO:HOS.

I would just hope for the battles to be based off of real ones, taking place for the early to late war.

Bataan

The Bataan peninsula, which forms the western side of Manila Bay, became the site of the outnumbered American and Filipino forces' retreat after Japanese attack in December 1941. Military headquarters were removed to the island of Corregidor. General Douglas MacArthur believed the lushly vegetated Bataan peninsula, 80% of which is mountainous terrain, could provide adequate defensive cover for his troops while they waited for relief to come.

Four months into their resistance, increasingly desperate U.S. and Filipino forces were nearly out of food, medicine, ammunition and other supplies. MacArthur had been evacuated from the Philippines. Disease and hunger were rampant. Reinforcements had not arrived. Under these conditions, surrender was inevitable.

Iwo Jima, I just loved those two movies =)

I really don't know much about the pacific war, and I didn't get to finish watching "the pacific" series (I watched half of it and it didn't get my attention, so I kinda forgot). But I loved the Clint Eastwood movies and I'd love to see Iwo Jima. ^^

You're right. I suppose there were a mix of disciplines involved in both battles. Particularly Corregidor. My bad....

Guadalcanal - Some good jungle action.
Sulfur Island - Can't forget this map, it is a must.
British Common Wealth in Singapore - It is unique, not portrayed in any games that I know of.

Those are my top 3.

Some battles in the Philippines would be nice too.

Lower reinforcements (but better defensive positions) for the defenders? Most maps would probably have to be like that.

Well if you look at it, we already know the allies won WW2, and Japan had atomic bombs dropped on it. That is already overkill so why not portray a battle against all odds? It would be fun and challenging if created right. It is just a game after all, we can't have it be 100% realistic where Axis/Allies always wins

Now TW needs to research naval armor and ballistics to get the realism correct. Also all ship's will need internal mechanics modeled to take damage.

nooo, we'll just have solo-"shippers"? that will sail away from the spawn quickly so nobody else gets on board.
