British election

The conservatives getting in would not be a good thing at all.

Just look at the miners strike of 1984-85,the mining community's and trade unions were destroyed by thatcher and now there is massive unemployment and drug problems.

The torys can also take the blame for destruction of britains steel and ship building industry.
Yeah well I really don't know much about the british political parties, I'm just used to be generally anti-socialdemocratic(as in socialist) due to the circumstances in my country.

ROFL you make it sound like the Nazi Zombie Socialists from the Marsian Venus Hell are holding a terror reign in Austria.

And before you cry out, no I never voted for them and never will.

They're left wing idiots who are specialized in introducing reluctant new taxes

Sure there's worse alternatives(green party, brrrr), but I'm just saying that there's better alternatives, at least in my country.

Sorry, only idiots call other peoples political views idiotic. (well unless the view is bordering or inside extremism)
I guess you are on the right wing nationalist side? (those usually are the guys who talk about more moderate parties and the left wing with such hatred)

Anyways, let's get back on topic and hope the thread doesn't get locked too fast. :p

Did anyone see the video of the BNP leader fighting with some asian guys btw?

That wasn't the leader of the BNP. It was Bob Bailey and their leader is Nick Griffin.

Tories won the most seats but not enough for a majority, apparantley talking to the Liberals now to try and form a coalition. Disapointed in the Lib Dems because they lost 5 seats overall, so even when the population hate labour and dislike conservatives they still can't make any headway.

Saying that their total vote went up 1% to 23% equating to 58 seats, whereas labout had 29% but 258 seats. Guess thats the problem when you use the first past the post method.

It is balls. Let's compare the number of people who voted for us...

Labour - 8,604,35 votes - 29.0% - 258 seats
Liberal democrats - 6,827,938 votes - 23% - 57seats

Wait...what?

Like I said, first past the post system so you only need the most votes in that area to win the seat. Proportional representation means that seats are divided according to the national voting figures, but then you would also end up with parties like UKIP and BNP gaining seats probably. :(
