OK, I found some info about this, but no hard evidence or very reliable sources, sorry. But some page did have a statement that this version (poisoning) is quite popular among historians. So, one can look at this as an alternative/one of options.

Here's a bad translation:

On the body, which was heavily touched by fire, no visible attributes of heavy fatal damages was found. But the crushed glass ampoule has been found in an oral cavity. The corpse smelled like bitter almond. The same ampoules have been found during opening of 10 more corpses of Hitler's confidants. It has been established, that the death has come as a result of a poisoning with cyanic connections. The same day was made opening of woman's corpse, who was " presumably ", as is was stated in the certificates, Hitler's wife Eve Brown. Also it was very hard to establish her age: between 30 and 40 years. Height is ~150 cm. There was only one way to indentify this corpse:by the gold bridge (dunno the right English word) of the bottom jaw. But the reason of death was different. There was also a broken ampoule in the mouth and the corpse also smelled with bitter almond, however, doctors found some hole in the chest ("trace of fragmental wound"?) and in the chest itself - 6 small metal splinters

The prevailing view in the West, IIRC, is that Hitler bit down on the capsule of cyanide and then a fraction of a second later shot himself in the head, and that the shooting component of his suicide was covered up by the Russians to make his death appear more cowardly.

It seems like a rather pointless argument however, as the notion that the near instant death from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head is any more manly than suffering from presumably terrifying convulsions and death from cyanide is ridiculous.

Yea, that is the story I have always heard, simultaneous poisoning and self inflicted gun shot wound. I would find it very interesting to find out the facts were different than the current accepted scenario in the west.

For instance, if he did only poison himself, did the guards know what was happening behind closed doors? Was it a shock to them that Hitler offed himself? I always assumed that his guards heard the gun go off, and rushed into his quarters moments later.

That this hatred is of a more than usual pathological nature is suggested by the morbid connection which Hitler makes between the Jew and disease, blood disease, syphilis, and filthy excrescences of all sorts.

In her description of sexual experiences with Hitler, Geli stressed the fact that it was of the utmost importance to him that she squat over him in such a way that he could see everything. It is interesting, that Roehm, in an entirely different connection, once said: "He (Hitler) is thinking about the peasant girls. At this place it might be well to note that Eva Braun, his present female companion, has twice attempted suicide, Geli was either murdered or committed suicide and Unity Mitford has attempted suicide. Rather an unusual record for a man who has had so few affairs with women.

It now becomes clear that the only way in which Hitler can control these coprophagic [feeding on excrement] tendencies or their milder manifestations is to isolate himself from any intimate relationships in which warm feelings of affection or love might assert themselves. As soon as such feelings are aroused, he feels compelled to degrade himself in the eyes of the loved object and eat their dirt figuratively, if not literally. These tendencies disgust him just as much as they disgust us, but under these circumstances they get out of control and he despises himself and condemns himself for his weakness.
