Hi. I just got Killing Floor a few days ago. Trying to play it on Normal with a buddy of mine and we are getting owned pretty hard. Any tips you can give for a 2 player game (not necessarily general ones, I read up on those) would be greatly appreciated. Beginner is way to easy, therefore boring.

If you want to recommend getting more people in game, it is an option to have a third person, although I don't believe we can consistenly arrange 3 player games.

Well ironically 2 player games are probably 1 of the harder set ups to play, because you have a pretty big number of specimens and your perk weaknesses will struggle to cover all bases.

I would probably say your best bet is try and have 1 of you focus on mob killing and the other focus on big nasty spiking. Pick a place where you are bunkered in and specimens can only come form 1 way, and focus fire down the hall. Although alternate your fire depending on what is incoming so that at least 1 of you is reloading all of the time.

Trash Killers: Commando, Firebug, Support

Hard Hitters: Support, Shaprshooter, Demo

Mando and Support I'd say are your best bet though

That depends. We don't really have a rigid setup. What class combinations would you suggest for two players?
Support + Commando/Bug is very good combination for normal. I mean, me and my buddy leveled up right this way. I was a commando, he was a supp. No probs at all. But back than the commando was still powerful againts the big ones. Yeh if you have supp with AA12 they are not a problem ;)

Thanks for the replies. My Sharpshooter is lvl3, my Support is getting there. I love how he can pierce multiple mobs with his shotgun, AND carry more grenades, AND carry overall more ****, AND weld doors faster, etc. The AA12 is such a beast of a gun.

I discovered the KF fake players mut and will try to tweak the difficulty with it. I suppose next time I will be playing a 2 player game, we will try our hand against 4-5 player Beginner. I could recommend this to anyone looking for a stepping stone between Beginner and Normal.

Depends heavily on what map you guys are doing. If it's an open map such as farm, I'd go with sharpshooter and a commando. If you guys are going to be camping in an enclosed area with specimens coming from only one direction, a support is definitely necessary for one of you. As for the second, I'd recommend a sharpshooter. Handcannon and crossbow penetrates through many specimens and allows you to get those nasty sirens and husks from afar, not to mention makes FPs and scrakes easy as well. If you do do a support/commando build for those situations, I don't see you guys getting out of an attack from an FP and scrake unscathed near as often as you could if you guys are still low perk levels. Plus, you guys are probably not level 3 support yet, so you can't even take two shotguns with you, making it difficult for the support to be more well rounded for taking down both big and little guys.

Commando and support are both capable of a lot, but camping in a single room or hallway might be difficult with only two shooters. Still you shouldn't have too many problems with clots, crawlers, and other small fries with a shotgun and an assault rifle or two. Gotta agree with Jester on this one.

As for 3 man games, 2 supports and 1 commando, 2 commandos 1 support, or possibly even a sharpshooter, commando, and support. Crossbows can do quite a bit of damage to anything that usually wipes out the team like sirens, scrakes, fleshpounds, etc. but it would be very difficult for the sharpshooter to defend himself. He can still help out with everything else using his pistols or one of his other weapons which do much more damage on an accurate shot than other perks.

TL;DR If you're having trouble with a few specific enemies, get a sharpshooter. Problems with the hordes, commando or support. The other perks are usable but I personally think they're harder to get used to in some ways, especially with only a few players, and this is just how you should try a few games.

Join a helper group, maybe?

As many said here, 2-player game is one of the most hardest (if not the hardest). Here some tips for you:
1. First try to win the maps having spots, where zeds come only from one side without welding needed. Then you can cover each other. Try Biotics Lab: if you stay at spawn point, weld door on left and right side before wave starts (in trader time), keep front and front-left doors opened and have a little bit of luck, zeds will come only from the front.

2. Good communication is the key.

3. Don't reload in the same time, especially if both of you are playing the same perk. Zeds can catch you on reload very easy.

4. I don't think support is a good choice before you reach level 3 (when you can carry 2 shotguns). If you don't need in constant welding, I recommend Sharpshooter + Commando combination. Sharpie should concentrate on big specimens (Sirens, Husks, Scrakes, Fleshpounds) and help with small stuff while Commando is reloading.

5. If you need to keep door welded, things are getting much harder. Then I recommend you both choose Support Specialist. One shooting, another - welding. When you need to reload, switch with your teammate and go welding. So you will always have one person with loaded gun to shoot. Both start with pump shotguns, when you have enough money - buy AA12. + backup weapon like Hand Cannon, Katana or M79.

6. Another welding option: one player (Support) is always welding and sometimes provide backup shooting with fast-reaload weapons (Hunting Shotgun + M79 is a good choice), another always shooting: Support with AA12 + HC or maybe Commando with SCAR + Xbow. If welding Support has level 2, he can carry Pump Shotgun + Xbow. So he can weld and also kill Sirens, Husks and Scrakes from a distance. Also you will have a good option to train Scake-killing with 2 Xbow shots, which you will need when advancing to Suicidal/HoE difficulty.

7. Use hand grenades on Fleshpounds. Throw one grenade at his body, fast rage him and throw another 1-2 nades. While FP is doing his rage animation first nade will trigger other nades and make FP blow up or near to death. Be cautious not to blow yourself up. Sirens around can destroy nades with scream, so you should kill them before concentrating on FP. If you are not shooting at FP, you will have 10-15 seconds before his rage. It's enough time to clear threats around him. Just don't panic ))

I'd say Demo/Firebug and Sharpshooter.

The Demo can do major splash damage to kill lots of Zeds at once, and also has high damage output for Fleshpounds. Downside is if stuff gets too close he'll blow himself up. Firebug doesn't have the firepower (no pun intended) to take down the big stuff, but can clear trash mobs with ease. Then the Sharpshooter can use his Crossbow to take out Scrakes, Sirens, Fleshpounds, etc. etc, and pack dual Handcannons in case things get out of hand (no pun intended).

As for camping, just like everyone else said, find a spot with 1 or 2 entrances.

So, I've been playing casually over the past month, no longer in a 2-man team (I managed to recruit 2 buddies to play with). My highest perk level is a lvl 4 Sharpshooter. If I had to pick the most important piece of advice for a 2-man noob team it would be this: learn the map you're trying to beat and learn the good hole-up spots. Don't think you can defend anywhere on the map.

2 player game is probably the easiest in my experience.

1. Find good spot with only 1 or 2 entrances, maybe even 3.

2. Both go Support.

3. Win.
Strangely enough, I've actually been employing this strategy on some 2-man Hard runs. It works AMAZINGLY well. Find a spot with one entrance, take it in turns shooting and reloading, and pack AA12s for the big nasties, or a Hunting Shotgun. I'm wondering how well this will work on Suicidal or HoE...

Two-man support works well on suicidal and HoE as well, but ammo conservation and communication are musts. Alternate between who fires and who reloads and you will get it. Also, if possible, line up the zeds so that you get multiple hits on your shots.

That's basically what I've been doing. I sit in the same room as the other person and we let each other know when we're reloading, and I (not sure about them) try to hit 4-5 Zeds with each shot. If I can't hit that many, I try to switch to my pistol, unless of course it's a Scrake/Fleshpound/Siren/something else nasty.

You need one to take out the small stuff and another to take out the large stuff.

Personally I would pick commando plus which ever from the the big hitters you like, so sharpshooter, support, demo, berserker. Commando protects the other from the hordes of zeds and doesn't engage unless they know they can kill with what's in the mag, level 1 commando can see health, so you know if you should start firing at a Scrake or FP. Low level commando is going to struggle against the large specimens, but very useful at clearing the small stuff at a constant rate.

Similar to playing alone, you always need an exit route.

Or join a public server, can be hit or miss who you end up playing with, but you can still work as a pair. Usually any level 6 players on normal are good to follow, see what they do etc.
