I don't even. Woman on the right, i don't think you could get a more wrong Soviet Uniform, i don't even know what its meant to be. Its like a really really **** Obr35 with some retard pockets being worn with parade 1943 Pogoni. Also the fascists uniform is disgusting too, not because its fascist but just horrible quality.

Calm down! Why so aggressive ?
Those are hotnesses! :D

I wish people would stop doing SS impressions and do quality heer units instead... Too many SS IMO.
I agree. I think it is just because they are classed as the Elite of the Wehrmacht and everyone one wants to be Elite. Even more GD and Panzer Lehr would be nice.

HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE. Yeah if you like wearing a 50's Gymnastroika with a 80's pilotka and staybright star. SUPER SOVIET SOLDIER.

ITT: Neckbeards ogling over anything with dangly bits. The one on the right looks like her mother got lost near Chernobyl looking for the hospital.
We have a term for women like her: Grozny.
The one on the left i have no problem with apart from her relations with the fascist of course.
I love these kids from the UK and the US that read the wiki page on Communism and think they are hard core party members. Some day you might grow up. :)

The Waffen-SS was NOT part of the Wehrmacht. And it definitely wasn't an elite unit! It was an propaganda unit loyal to Hitler himself (even though everyone, Wehrmacht etc. had to take the oath on him). They got the best weapons and were thrown in the toughest battles (suffered high losses too), that is what got them their reputation. Unfortunately the propaganda still works for certain people ...

Except they were under OKW command so that makes them de facto section of the Wehrmacht. Most of the Divisions from 3rd SS up would not really be classed as Elite. But 'Leibstandarte' and 'Das Reich' were definitely elite units. It was also not a Propaganda unit, because there did not drive around handing out leaflets and putting posters up on wall. That was left for the Propaganda ministry. :)

And on an other note, contrary to common belief, SS units did not receive the best equipment first. Gro

waffen ss was lended by the nazy party to the wehrmacht ...
(allow them to remove them from the front when hitler wanted)

1st and 3rd wasn't elite division because of the poor rate troop (too noobs at the beginning, too heterogen and not enough officer at the end because even if the division was decimated, its member was completely replace rather to send them to other ss division).

Only the 9thss and the 10thss are considered as elite division.

And about their reputation, well in germany waffen ss had a reputation of dying quickly (fanatism) so not a lot of people wanted to be in (not even the ss in the administrations). At the end it was different, because all the propaganda and because people thought the nazi would keep safe the ss more than the wehrmacht. For their ennemies, the ss were fanatics and murderers.

And about ss reenactment or clan most of them are just too uneducated to touch this subject ...

Seth Soldier & Kettech I implore you to read a book or two, if you take your opinions solely from the history channel then you will end up with the completely bias attitudes that you have.

I suggest you read the following:

Like a Cliff in the Ocean, Karl Ullrich

Das Reich vol 1-5, Otto Weidinger

There are obviously many more but these are just a few that I would recommend. I think getting views from the other side of the fence might enlighten you a little. Maybe after reading these you wont be so quick to tar everyone with the same brush.

Also by saying that the 1 & 3. divisions weren't 'elite' (I hate that term) shows that you know very little and are making assumptions based on limited facts. The Totenkopf was at the top of the Russian league table since the start of the war and was considered one of the best formations, especially in defensive combat (Demjansk is one example).

All the Best
Hoffmann

P.S. In regards to this thread in general what happend seems like a sh*t storm passed through here....

As loathful as some of their actions in the war were, the Waffen SS can nonetheless be considered an elite force, seeing as their training, physical fitness & equipment placed them very high on the battlefield effeciency list compared to most foreign army units.

In the beginning the Wehrmacht didn't think much of the Waffen SS however, and rightfully so, seeing as the regular Waffen SS soldier hadn't undergone the rigorous training of the common wehrmacht soldier, which during that period (1935-42) had to undergo the longest & toughest basic training demanded by any military in the world, spanning over 18 months.

As the war went on however the Waffen SS began implementing more rigorous training, and the physical fitness was most likely the highest seen within any major army unit. Some of the demands were pretty outrageous.

Still, the soldiers of the Waffen SS weren't the absolute best trained soldiers of the war, that honor belongs to the specialist troops, which most of the major nations involved had their own versions of.

The specialist military units that recieved probably the toughest & best training during the war were the following:

LRDG (UK)
Brandenburgers (GER)
SAS (UK)
Fallschirmjaegers (GER)
Royal Marine Commandos (UK)
1st SSF (US & CA)
Gebirgsjaegers (GER)
SBS (UK)
502nd SS J
