Level Design Omaha beach map project need help!!

Dog green with the 29th ID and 2nd Rangers along with lost 5th Rangers.

It was actualy rather smoky in front of the cliffs from the naval barrage. There were grass fires everywhere as well producing more smoke. The smoke went in front of the german positions at times obscuring the beach. However most of the smoke had gone shortly after the infantry landed only some areas remained smoky due to the grass fires.

A grand total of 2 tanks had made it ashore before the infantry as planned. 2 out of 29. Neither of these were shot at until the infantry arrived and both tank commanders didn't want to fire the first shots. As they were the only ones on the beach for a couple of minutes. Some tanks crews were "rescued" by the landing craft only to find themselves in the first wave of infantry rather than being in tanks. The infantry suffered the most casulties on the initial landing. Many drowning due to the fact they leaped from the sides of their landing craft with all their gear on. The water could be 10 feet deep near the back of the landing craft and 2 feet deep at the front. As that's how the beach was at low tide. 40 minutes after the initial landing another 40 tanks had made it ashore at dog green, white and red.

Dog green and dog white didn't have any cliffs to hide under such as dog red and some other parts of the beach. The only safety was the shingle. Which was 300m away from the water's edge. It would take a minute to run that distance normally. Only they were being shot at and blown up. Most men looking at images of dog red had taken off their assault jackets. Carrying much lighter equipment or no equipment shoving ammo into their pockets. There aren't many photos of the beach. Only one photographer took photos while running up the beach. However all his photos were ruined when they were developped. A photographer on dog red took some photos when he had reached the cliffs but only of the men that had made it with him. They mostly had no gear and you could see all their facial expressions after running 200m under fire.

Various squads were put together by the last remaining officers. Captains found themselves as battalion commanders. Rangers and 29th ID found themselves in squads under the command of an NCO nobody knew.

Most of the 5th landed at dog white. Half the 2nd landed at point du hoc. The other half landed at dog green. The latter half, 3 companies worth was called Force B. General Norman D Cota on dog white asked the Rangers who they were. Someone yelled out 5th Rangers. Cota then said "alright then Rangers lead the way". It's where the motto came from. That was all at dog white. Dog green was 2nd rangers.

2nd Rangers landed at Dog Green because the remainder of their forces first assaulted Pointe du Hoc and were 30 minutes too late. When the forces at Pointe called out for reinforcements, the window for sending them was closed (7:00 a.m.) and the rest of the 2nd Rangers was sent to Omaha Beach, Dog Green sector (source: WW2's Greatest Raids episode 1) :D

For more historical accuracy and realistic of D-Day, I add the link from the documentary The True Story, on this episode is about Saving Private Ryan movie and so many mistakes, I think that movie is the most realistic that ever made, but not enough realistic like the real combat. Anyway, great work, mates, go ahead!!!

Hurry up dude! :D

anyway, some people asked for test right? my tipp, start a test :)
cause its gonna be way easier, to work on a map when you have the pressure
that people like it ;)

so i would recommend to setup some covers and all the covernodes, setup kismet
and go for a test. don't care about the bots. they're really complex in
some parts.

if you have questions, you know where to find me.

Hi comrades,

took a close look on the mappics here too, sry the same prob as on the others, with one more prob, the proprtions orf the rubble in the town fe, they are soooo big, ist not looking realistic as the houses of RS what are used in France, it s soooo poor, sry... :( I c ant understand why every second post ist a "Whow, great, unbelivable " post is, is it not allowed to say that ist not so good looking on the first and second view? I d ont like it really, it s only copy paste like all other mapstuff. Try it with own models like with the character wich are great, then your "maps" will possibly work too and some more as 10 peoplz will play it. Perhaps you think about, would be great because alle the work you did is woth to be played, and it ll be fun! But sort out the noobs ( specially the mapnoobs ) of your team to stay alive...

Best wishes

The map is better than your grammar and your spelling at least...
