In the 'Multiplayer' menu options you can 'Create a Server' (and play from the same PC). This only helps if :_
1) you do this through the UBI servers (everyone can see the server)
2) You register it on Hyperlobby (everyone can see the server) - Not sure how to do this.
3) You tell (advertise) people your PC's IP address, Port Number and times of day you'll be running it. This way they get direct access to the server, as come people get 'tiresome' on HL and UBI.

More so with the older maps, not so with newer maps like this one and other ones recently released (e.g., Kurland and Burma).

I've been flying flight sims since the early 90's. All the way back to confirmed kill and AOL and $2 an hour/ $300+ flight bills a month in Warbirds 1.? . iL2 is pretty, but the flight models are the most unfounded, unrealistic pieces of poo available in any of them. I have all of the expansions, hoping for them to be fixed, but they still are porked. I like the full engine management options though. But there isnt enough room for our whole squadron in an arena, and still have cons. And we fly heavies as a group, and that option simply isnt there.

Warbirds had the lead in fidelity for some time with 2.75/2.77, but then lost it with the inception of WB3. The numbers are all over the chart there now. Combined with no engine managemant, no development (for years now) and no updates (also for years now), graphics that are dated now as well,and poor quality connections its lost its edge in a market that it could have easily dominated.

Aces High II now has the lead. No surprise there really, since the creators are the original developers of Warbirds. To me , its what WB's 2.77 should have evolved into with proper development, and a proper business model. Sure the graphics are'nt iL2, but you dont have 900 folks in 2 arenas evrey night in iL2 either. Even so, they are close. Great clouds (synched) , weather effects, and a fantastic dammage model are a bonus.The flight model is right by the numbers pretty much across the charts too. A working strat system, limited engine management, and a better bombsight make it a heap of fun for bomber squadrons. If you'd like to try it, theres a 2 week free trial at flyaceshigh.com . Or you could check out the group we fly with at simpilots.org . We (484th BG) generally field 15 or so bombers, and the 78th and 4th Fighter Groups fly escort for us for high alt historical bombing missions twice a week. The Luftwaffe is always more than willing to show. :)

If you got a problem with a certain FM then get evidence that clearly proves the current FM is wrong and give it to oleg. If the evidence is strong enough he will change it, he's done it before. Bashing IL-2 and raising AH2 to the skies on the RO forums won't change anything and it certainly won't make you look good either.

Having nothing to base your argument on only makes you look like a crybaby.

Well, you know thats funny. Some folks did just that. And it still hasnt changed. Aa a matter of fact, I seem to remember a statement to the effect of "too bad, its not changing" when the FM's were proven wrong. Thats about the time I lost interest. I dont need to "raise AH to the sky", they did thier homework, and produced something that makes sense. And believe me, at this stage of the game, the last thing I worry about is looking good to a bunch of little kids on the interwebs.;) Just offering up a different POV for those who consider fidelity to be an important factor in flight sims. Do a search on thier forums, its all there somewhere (if they havent removed it) from a couple years back.

Well believe it or not but some of us on "the interwebs" are actually adults that have grown out of the "it sucks but I can't tell you why" way of arguing. I'm not saying IL-2 is perfect, there are some dodgy FM's on a couple of planes. But your claim that IL-2 is a broken piece of **** is an exaggeration to say the least. If you come to a thread and basically just say "it sucks!" without giving a reason or even so much as point out exactly what it is that "sucks" there is really no meaning behind your post at all.
You may not care what you come off as when you post something like that, but if more people did then there would be far less locked and deleted garbage threads on the forums of "the interwebs".

If you want to tell people that there's another flight simulator out there that you feel strongly for then maybe you should create a new thread about that one instead.

Blow things out of proportion much? Never said that. Loads of functionally attractive features. Alls I said that the fantasy FM's ruins it for me.

I mentioned many flight sims in my other post. As a matter of fact, I've flown Falcon 4, LOMAC, just about evrey MS flight sim to date, and even a number of WWI flight sims. The comparison was made to share the differences that I have experienced (even on a CM's level) so that others who do not know may have a little mor insight. I dont get into the "my sandbox is better that yours" silliness. Lets face it, we pay for all of these ( I did buy all of Olegs titles, he has my money). So guess what, we all have a right to an opinion.Getting upset over a differing opinion on a subject, and my posts have been on topic, because it demeans "your sandbox" is where most conversations go awry.

Umm, when they devolve into name calling and finger pointing (see your first post in response to mine) then they turn into poo an get closed and locked. If you notice, my posts do neither , and have no **'s in them as I am able to carry on a conversation without the need for explatives or insult. Unlike some.
