Comparing the mod maps to retail ones is pointless and tbh this thread is rather condecending.
Mistakes were made in the mod when it comes to maps and balance. But a lot was learnt, and as has been mentioned the tools are now available to make the maps work exactly as the mapper wants them to.
The maps for retail are noticably superior to the mod version, and discussions like this are fairly pointless until after release when you are more than welcome to give feedback.
But telling the devs to make better maps for retail is actually kinda patronising. It's almost as if you think they are unaware of what their job is...
I think it's safe to say the level designers are aware that part of their job description is to make better maps for retail.
