I know we have a few Minecraft players here, and someone linked this on another forum. When I saw it, I immediately thought of you guys here.
Ace of Spades is a Minecraft knock-off with an important twist: a WW1 setting. Players carry rifles and grenades, can build defensive structures across a huge map, all while playing a game of CTF. The shooting "is more akin to Red Orchestra than anything else" according to RPS. So it's very lethal. While the game is still in early beta, it's free, and I hear good things about several hour matches where players build trenches, fox holes, bridges, all to defend their flag, while simultaneously undermining enemy constructions (like knocking out the bottoms of walls causing the whole thing to collapse.)
Read the RPS article, it goes into much more detail about what's possible. People are already salivating at the prospect of future features, like artillery strikes and such.
