Darkest Hour Press Release: DH Manual

if i am correct then adjusting aim on any ww2 tank should in theory imply you moving the barrel up or down.
adjusting the aim only moves the visor, then you actually should be moving the barrel to place the target back on the mark.
in RO this happens automatically just like a modern tank, but the good part is that it compensates aim problems at long distance, like when moving the barrel up or down gets you off the target. then you can adjust by changing the distance.

The Horsa Gliders and C53's are not flyable and are not AI controled per se.

The are set on predetermined routes and cannot be moved or stopped. the Gliders in one map just deliver half the allied troops to their initial spawn area one time only.

The C53's however constantly overfly the map and players can choose where to jump out of it. The C53 Para drop map did not make it into release one, Due to a last minute hitch with the map, this will be released in our first update around 2 weeks after initial release.

Lol yeh fog we have a dev discussion on this and it went something as follows:

Dev 1 "All raise your hands if you want jeeps playable in game"

*Almost every dev raises hand*

Dev 1 "How many of you would jump in them and run off and cap all the cap zones before the game has even started properly?"

*Almost every dev raises hand*

that pretty much killed the idea off straight away. We'd love to have a lot of cool cars in game to drive but the problem is people just don't use them as they would be used in rl (i.e. jeeps fast recon, med evac etc). They just burn it off to the capzone and cap the points it tends to mess with the game balance a little too much. Shame really :(
Its dead easy to sort this.
Make them slower and harder to turn.

Isnt the Ardennes map a bit too... unwintery? I presume its the fighting in the fall, right?

good question!
The fact is that contrary to what is widely believed, it only started snowing and freezing badly around the 20th december, 4 days after the attack began.
wich means most of the big german attacks happened in a snow-less environment.
this explains why none of the sides had appropriate winter clothing or camouflage when the snow came in the middle of the combats.

the ardennes tankmap is supposed to take place on december 16th, so there is no snow.
but don't worry the next ardennes maps that are coming soon will be full of snow for some good ol snow fights :p

Hell yeah, DH needs axis winter camo uniforms (particularly for the Waffen SS) during the cold season of Ardennes -

Plus it would be great you could render gloves for the hands.

I'd also love to see the "US M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage" half-track navigating through the rough terrain of the Ardennes Forest, the M16 was very effective against German ground targets.

A M-16 Halftrack with its four (quad mount) .50 caliber machine guns. The guns were mounted on a battery powered base, which rotated to allow fire from different angles and directions. This Army photo was taken during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 and January 1945.
