Two Primaries

You should be able to carry two primary weapons. There is no physical reason why a soldier couldnt carry two primary weapons. There can be a detriment such as stamina being eaten away quicker but for sake of realism it should be an option. Also, there are many times when a friendly could use an extra gun and the only way to get him one is to give away your own primary. It would be a big help to just give him the one strung on your back.

I would be in favor of two primary weapons under the following conditions:

1. No one should be issued two primary weapons right out of spawn. To get a second weapon you should have to kill and scavenge.

2. You should have to drop ammo for your main gun to pick up ammo for the second.

3. Rifles and submachineguns only please. Big weapons like the MG42 or the PTRD are just way too huge, and normally didn't have slings.

4. The second gun should take the place of satchel charges and Panzerfausts, so you have to choose between being armed for anti-infantry work or anti-tank work.

For the sake of realism...show us some pictures (or primary accounts)...of WWII soldiers, on the eastern front...in combat...carrying two primary weapons at one time.

The burden of proof is on you, not us.

Ever heard of this handy thing called a "weapon sling"? Even if soldiers weren't given 2 weapons at the start of a battle there's no reason not to allow them to carry two weapons if they can hold one and sling another on the back.

Sometimes the RO community is a bit arrogant thinking that every realism aspect is nailed down.

No, there shouldn't be two primary weapons.

I don't think any soldier in close combat ran around with two main weapons, and it's not absolutely realistic. Simply you can't fight with one heavy weapon and other hanging around you. Maybe when near a combat zone, or when transporting; but not in combat. There may be some photos about that, but out of other tens of thousands of photos we have, you can see it was really rare :)

We already have a "unrealistic" payload system in RO. You can even carry one pistol, one main weapon, hand grenades, two 10kg satchel, 3 panzerfausts and plus the ammuniton. Adding one more main weapon will simply make it more arcady and unrealistic. And will most likely cause it to be much more Rambo game contrary to what it's trying to be.

Actually, I wouldn't mind being able to carry two primaries, under following circumstances:

-To pick up your second primary, you would need a 5-10 second wait simulating that you'd have the weapon you hold to put aweay, take the other gun, shoulder it, and get your first gun again.

-You can only carry the ammo that is already in the second primary, as you lack the right type of ammo pouches.

-To select your second primary gun, you'd have to drop your first one, and then 3-5 seconds wait to unsling and ready your second primary weapon.

-When carrying 2 primary guns, you should not be able to sprint, jump or use any other weapon like your pistol, grenades, panzerfausts or satchels.

Wow americana, Im surprised this suggestion came from you of all peeps :p

It is physically possible to carry 2 weapons yes, but to introduce it as a feature in RO, totally out of the question!

There are weight and stamina issues involved IRL, so it would seriously have to be added in-game (too much like hard work when there are so many important issues that still need addressing)

Also there is is no way you can pick up all the fallen ammo either, so this idea = aint gonna happen

that way it coud even work !

Combat Load of the average infantry soldier...
http://www.45thdivision.org/Pictures/General_Knowlege/combatload.htm

A rifleman has a load of 82.02 lbs. Yes, there are things called slings that allow you to strap a weapon to your back, adding another weapon to the 82+ lbs is going to WEIGH him down unnecessarily. Adding an SMG to the current setup is going to add another 10-15 lbs.

Seriously...
