I think he means UT3 and RO2 both kind of flopped compared to how anticipated they were by their respective communities.
Not sure why anyone would blame the engine. Good games are made on bad game engines and vice versa. Heck a lot of cool gameplay mechanics in cs1.6 and scbroodwar exist because of flaws in the engine code.

I can understand why UT3 flopped. Epic tried to sell the same game for the 3rd (4th) time.
As for RO2: it needs polish. A lot. But hey, you can finally rearm the AT rifle, maybe we will live in a time when the respawn menu doesn't close randomly!

Seriously though....can anyone name a UE3 game that has done well with multiplayer on the PC? I can't speak for consoles, but for me every UE3 game has been a disappointment. Someone prove me wrong. Name a Unreal 3 PC game that has a strong MP community? Not talking about 4 player co op (D Defenders) or small console sized games (R6:V series)...I'm talking like 32 player action. The only games I know that have accomplished this are F2P games such as AvA and AA3. Both of which are questionable, and probably only have a player base because they are free.

Tribes ascend is very cool, you have to aim ahead because the bullets are slow not because of the netcode.
Make people shoot blue disks in RO2 and the gameplay will be so much better.
