Synergy - The Super Computer solution

What is Synergy?

... Synergy is Free and Open Source Software that lets you easily share your mouse and keyboard between multiple computers, where each computer has its own display. No special hardware is required, just a network connection. Synergy is supported on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Usage is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. You can even share your clipboard.

Just thought I'd share it, tried it out today as I was looking for a way to make my laptop work as a second monitor

This program allows my desktop and laptop to still run individually as two different PCs.. but the mouse and keyboard shared - and with the functionality of being ably to move my mouse from one screen to another.

I also think the fact it works cross OS is also quite cool.

I call it the super computer solution only because it allows me to have some of my regular background processes happen on the laptop, while my pc can run it's other processes(like RO2) without being affected by what normally I would have been doing in the background on the same computer ... and can be switch between by moving the mouse.. or just a keystroke (useful for when your dead in CD and don't want to alt tab)

Also if i may add.. use the beta build (1.4.4).. the improved UI helps for the setup - it may be just me but I could not get it to work in the "stable" release

+rep on the nerd points, I think I might just try that out.. pitty I dont have a second comp to do it with... ( I guess I could use my laptop for TS & stuff when im on ARMA or RO2..)

Hm.

I just threw a new hard drive in my desktop today, and I'm upgrading to Win7 ... I think perhaps I shall investigate this as well ...
