So I am going to try to get my own server for HoS, and notice one thing about the game and the community- It's heavily modded. I know little - to nothing about modding.
So I was wondering do servers that aren't modded die?
On a scale of 0-10 (0 being impossbile and 10 being suck your thumb easy) what is the difficulty of learning to mod?

You don't need to do the modding yourself, you can run other peoples mods on the server. Running mods on your server isn't rocket science. Try setting up a RO:OST server and play around with some custum stuff, I can't imagine it will be any harder than that. There's plenty of info on how to do it on the ROOST forums, even a how-to pdf iirc.
